I’ve learned that signs and wonders will easily fill up a Church, just as preaching The Gospel-truth will empty one out.

So you must ask yourself; are you seeking the full truth… or just running after a sign?

Jesus said,

“I AM the way, the TRUTH and the life….”   John 14:6.

To seek TRUTH is to seek Christ Himself.  Truth is what will set us free.  But the truth hurts: it exposes, uncovers, and allows one to see the ugliness of themselves.  Truth exposes sin. It is truth that strips Satan of having power over us.

In Matthew 16:4 Jesus said to the Pharisees,

“A wicked and perverse generation seeks after a sign.”

Jesus also said that in the last days,

“False Christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”   Matthew 24:24.

So why are Christians so desperate for a sign, a wonder, or a prophecy, that they are even willing to pay money for it?

Is this simply not a form of fortune-telling?

Jude wrote,

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.  For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness (lust).”   Jude 1:3-4.

All sin falls into one of three categories; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life.  Christ overcame all three of these categories during His temptation mentioned in Matthew 4:1-11.

Yet in today’s modern Church, the majority of the preachers, prophets, and teachers that many follow, incorporate one or all of these categories of sin in their teachings, and also demonstrate it in their lifestyles.

We are seeking that which is of this life and passing away instead of seeking a relationship with the One who is eternal and unshakeable.

The signs and wonders that are manifested as “gifts” will eventually pass away, because there is no need for it in heaven (1 Corinthians 13:8-10), and it does not produce any reward in eternity because gifts come without repentance.

It is the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) that must be earned and tried by fire that will produce the reward of heaven.

The Fruit of the Spirit is the manifestation of God’s character in our lives.  Without this refinement, we are mere hypocrites, or pretenders.

Paul stated,

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts.  Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the TRUTH (Jesus).”   2 Timothy 3:5-7.

Saints, let’s make sure that we are not deceived by only seeking that which is passing away.  Christ is more than just a sign; He is relationship, He is an eternal Covenant!
