Christian Meditation – Is it Biblical? — 1 Comment

  1. Hi Mr. Mackillop,
It is indeed very heartening to hear some lone brave voice crying from within the wilderness of Christianity today on the goodness of Christian meditation and its proper place in God’s kingdom on earth: Luke 17:21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.”
The greatest problem of Christianity today is that those who profess to know the Word and are leading the churches today have not reached the level of maturity yet to be authoritative to talk about meditation or spirituality. Paul said: 1 Corinthians 2:6NIV84 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
Simply put, those who are anti Christian meditation have missed out on a higher and integral part of the Kingdom of Christ: 1 Corinthians 3:1–2 1 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
You need to read and understand the 10 verses preceding this passage to have a clearer idea of the meaning of meditating and knowing God.
I am good in this area of spirituality. You quoted only Andrew Murray. I have books on at least 30 more such authors. But having the books is only having the road-map. The only thing that counts is to be on the road to the destination. Christian meditation is unlike other worldly meditations in the sense that it belongs to Christ; and you need to know and live the Truth of the Word to make any good headway in Christian meditation.
    Thanks for your time.
