Dealing With Divine or Demonic Delays Requires Discernment & Determination — 5 Comments

  1. Regards to the Lazarus interpretation portion of scripture I see it differently. Jesus never looked to get any glory for the things he did by the Father’s direction. He always wanted to keep a low profile. If you read in verse 8 of chapter 11 his disciples clearly say that if we go back now the Jews are waiting for us to stone you. Thomas clearly states in verse 11 let us go with him that we may die with him. Jesus stayed behind strictly for self preservation of him and his disciples because he knew that the Jews have left after 3 days (they believe that the soul is gone and can’t return) thus Jesus comment earlier about he who walks in the light can see what is really going on. He is the resurrection and the life, remember Paul said that we rightfully divide or interpret the word of God. I have much more to say but this should get us pondering what is really written that can only be deciphered by praying in tongues and letting the Holy Spirit teach us all things.

In understanding and using Scripture, we must indeed be rightly dividing The Word of Truth.

However, you said the right thing but did the opposite. {:-)

“So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.” John 11:6. THE LORD actually delayed when He heard that Lazarus was sick. “He stayed two more days in the place where He was” is predicated on “when He heard that he was sick”. It is a causative correlation.

Working with THE FATHER, He had Foreknowledge that Lazarus would die and then be raised up by Him. Hence, He delayed.

Furthermore, we must always ensure “not to think beyond what is written” (1 Corinthians 4:6).

JESUS expected to be glorified. He specifically stated that the whole occurrence is for one purpose: “that THE SON OF GOD may be glorified through it.” (John 11:4).

  2. A very interesting article about divine and demonic delays. I was surprised to learn that to “resist the devil” in James 4:7 meant to contend. I was always taught that it was about resisting temptation.
