Surrendering to the Father’s will, in and through us, can sometimes be daunting for many of us, especially when we have an already laid out and prescribed agenda for ourselves.
Most of us include things like personal peace, happiness, comfort, prosperity, security, marriage, perfect health, fulfilling experiences, and reaching goals and full potentials as priorities.
Yet, while there is absolutely nothing wrong with these desires, being humbled, obedient and completely emptied of self, submitting to the Father’s will above our own is saying to the Almighty that we are not living just for these things but are seeking first HIS Kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
We look at the life of Christ the Messiah as exemplary and see how He was selfless and sought not for His own glory but to accomplish the Father’s will. Hence, as qualities that characterized Yeshua, Jesus Christ, being surrender and self-sacrifice.
To surrender means to relinquish possession or control to another, to submit to the power, authority, and control of another and sacrificed , giving up for others sake is exactly what He did (Philippines 2:6-8)
“Who though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross!”
I perceive the Holy Spirit speaking and asking a pertinent question, “What are you willing to sacrifice that you may walk with Me?
Are you willing to partake of My suffering, are you willing to be persecuted for righteousness’ sake, are you willing to give up your ways and fleshy desires to be one with My Spirit?
Are you ready to count the costs to be effective and anointed for service?
Are you ready to give up the ways of this world that you may be seated in My Kingdom?
For My Kingdom is everlasting, this world is temporal. So many come asking Me for things that cannot satisfy, very few ask for my heart, to know my way, my intentions, and I have seen them, yet out of My righteousness and faithfulness given them the desires of their hearts.
But I AM raising up a people who will say YES and surrender to ME ONLY! The purified hearts. They suffer with me and so will also reign with me.
I AM raising up a generation who LOVE ME, not My hand and what I can give, but who are willing to serve Me in Spirit and truth and in spite of all. Those who have crucified flesh and all its works, so that I may be glorified in them. These are the ones who dance in the fire, and will walk on water for My Name’s sake.
My child, listen and obey my voice, for there will be a separation, sheep from goat, righteous from unrighteous.
I AM now gathering and sifting, winnowing. Hear and hearken, lean not to your own understanding of things, but be as a little child.
Make Me your desire!”
Reflecting on our own life, what are some of the things the LORD may be calling on you to sacrifice or give up in order to fulfill His will and purpose?
