Hear, Do and speak in Tongues!
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them,” Isaiah 8:20.
Saints we are required to both hear and do the sayings of Jesus, for our house to be built upon the rock and not the sand. There is a false doctrine out there that says Jesus did it all, we don’t have to do anything
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock, And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it,” Matthew 7:24-27.
Real Apostles declare the whole counsel of God. False ones do not – they only preach selective truths.
“For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God,” Act 20:27.
This is the hour of strong delusion and evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse. If the Gospel you are under does not teach you, that you have to be a doer, as well as a hearer of it, or that the believer does not have to do any warfare or wrestle not with principalities and powers, then you need to flee those ministries. They are preaching a false rest and grace and handling the word of God deceitfully.
This is the great and terrible day of the Lord.
Believers, you need to hear the whole counsel of God and not just the teachings that tickle your ears and makes you feel good, while living at ease in Zion
“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved, And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie,” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11.
We are to labor to enter the rest. Tongues is the rest. Paul labored more then the whole Corinthian church and Paul prayed in tongues more then the whole Corinthian church.
“Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief,” Hebrews 4:11.
“For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people to whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear,” Isaiah 28:11-12.
“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me,” 1 Corinthians 15:10.
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all,” 1 Corinthians 14:18.

Yes,the truth is that Jesus did it all so we now can do the same.
About speaking in ‘tongues’:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues,” Mark 16:17.
It means first and foremost that-through our obedience to God’s commandments – our own demons in ourselves shall be cast out and that will result in that we speak in a new tongue, because our minds has through this been renewed and our tongue is now restrained by the Holy Spirit and speaks now only in agreement with God’s Word. That sign was not visible before the demons were cast out.
The ‘unknown’ tongue which is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 14 is another kind of speaking and is, if not interpreted, unfruitful because it is not lead by the Holy Spirit.
“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful,” 1 Corinthians 14:14.
And the tongues spoken of in Acts 2 are the tongues spoken of in other tongues, but in an understandable language.
“Cretans and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God,” Acts 2:11.
Myself, this far, speaks only in a ‘new’ tongue.

Yes you are right, and it is so simple to understand.
However, it is also true that many of the large denominations in the worldwide Church do not accept tongues and other spiritual gifts – Cessationist – as they believe tongues and other spiritual gifts ceased to be given out by the Lord, after the first century Church.
