Yes, how do I explain The Joy of the LORD?
How do I put into words something that is so indescribable?
As I scour the words of the English language it occurs to me that I cannot. The truth is that so many of the blessings we receive through Christ defy the constructs of language.
While I may not be able to describe what it feels like to have His joy coursing through my heart, I can tell you how to receive such joy so that you too may struggle to find words to describe the indescribable.
There is but one word needed in this case. That word is trust.
The fact is, no matter how much we desire to control our circumstances, no matter how much we wish to protect ourselves from pain, we will experience it.
Our desire for control overrides that indescribable joy.
It tells us that although the LORD may be the creator of the universe, He is not involved in our day to day affairs.
It tells us that while He may intercede from time to time, most everything rests on our own shoulders and is contingent our abilities.
Can you see how going it alone robs us of peace and joy?
Can you see the two sides of this coin?
On one side we have “me” who in reality controls very little. All hopes in “me” are false. On the other hand we have the LORD Jesus who promises that He will never leave or forsake us.
It is in believing this with every fiber of our being that we arrive there… in that place of TRUST.
It is there that we experience the fullness of Christ which is a stark contrast to the emptiness of self.
Do you crave this kind of joy?
Do you long for peace that surpasses all understanding?
As I said, I cannot even begin to describe it to you but I can tell you where to find it. Are you ready to receive?
Victory in Jesus is found in surrender of self. No one can force you to come to that place but you may ask for it and in doing so, expect to receive.
