A Camouflaged Season that blends in like the real thing is a set back, not a set up.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and {not} of evil, to give you an expected end,”    Jeremiah 29:11 KJV.

“And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.  And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.”  And his disciples heard it,”   Matthew 11:13-14 ESV.

You see, Jesus cursed the fig tree, because it was not the right season for figs.

In biblical times, the fruit of the fig tree generally appeared before the leaves, and, because the fruit is green, it blends in with the leaves, right up until it was almost ripe.

However; when Jesus and His disciples saw from a distance that the tree had leaves, they expected it to also have fruit on it, even though it was earlier in the season than what would be normally expected for a fig tree to be bearing fruit.

The fig tree was considered to be a symbol of blessing and prosperity for the nation of Israel.

But, instead when Jesus approached it; it was a symbol of the presence of lack, and the death of a fig tree which symbolized frustration, judgment and rejection to all that went seeking to partake of the fig tree!

And, this is why Jesus cursed it!

Whenever we as a people are out of the perfect timing of God we are like Jesus and the fig tree!

We come expecting something from a tree and we walk away empty!

We come expecting love from the trees of men and we end up with hate.

We come expecting a Word from the heart of the Father and we end up with worms and maggots!

You see, the LORD never plants a tree and He does not have both a plan and or a purpose for it.

We, the people of God, are called to produce fruit in our lives as trees and if not, we will be cast down the same way Jesus cursed the fig tree!

If we are administered gifts by the Holy Spirit, we are called to excel in them.

If we are called to walk in an office administered by Christ the Bible says, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness,   (Romans 12:7-8).

In other words, we are to be patient and to remain in the timing of the perfect will of God like the fig tree should have done.

Instead it caused Jesus frustration and anxiety as well as anger, because it had all the signs of a fig tree ready to produce, but no evidence of fruit!

Isn’t that how we are, as the people of God?

The LORD is saying, wait, hold on and wait on His perfect timing, His calendar, but instead we jump a head of Him and all that we do brings about friction and frustration and more pain, because we like Sarah, are trying to birth out (remember Haggar her hand maiden she gave to Abraham because of her impatience) fruit without being in the right season!

I tell you people, the LORD is teaching me as I walk with him to let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing,  (James 1:4).

Because the more we try to bring about fruit in the wrong season, the more pain and heartbreak we bring not only to ourselves, but others around us; as well!

Just think if only the fig tree would have remained in her biological timing, Jesus never would have cursed it and all who came into contact with it would have been prosperous and have even been partakers of her beautiful fruit, but instead, everyone who came in contact with this tree, left feeling barren!

People of God, the LORD is revealing those trees which are bringing forth much fruit.

Not only will their trees look prosperous on the outside, but within as well!

The lesson of the fig tree is that we should bear spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22-23), and not just give an appearance of religiosity.

God judges fruitlessness, and expects that those who have a relationship with Him will “bear much fruit” (John 15:5-8).

If not get ready to be cut down and cast into the fire!
