At this time in our meanderings, I am noticing more and more people who seem to be living on the fringe of society.

I see families who don’t have a regular home other than a beaten-down truck or trailer, to live in.  There are children quarreling or crying, and all of them need shelter and a good meal to eat.

One can find a whole spectrum of different levels of society at a Walmart.  It’s almost like a melting-pot of every shape, age, income level, and place in the world all funneled into a shopping center.

It’s one thing to go shopping at places like this for the basic needs and necessities of life and yet it’s a totally different thing to stay in a parking lot overnight seeing these things.

I watch and see various shapes and sizes of RV’s come and go on their way to their next destination.  I often wonder about the lives that many of these people are leading, and where they’re going to next.

We are always on the go to this place or that one.  Everything is moving at such a fast pace and it seems to me that the treadmill of life is set to running at higher and higher speeds these days.

New frontiers in medicine and technology are being discovered every day, almost at an exponential rate.

We’ve cracked the sound barrier decades ago, gone to the moon and explored the far reaches of space, and now the internet offers one almost a life of exclusivity beyond the physical one.

And the tragic part of some of this is that with all of the social media and sensations of the web at our fingertips, many are living in utter loneliness.

And yet with all the increase in knowledge we have missed perhaps the greatest need of all and that is the seeking after and acquiring of wisdom – God’s wisdom.

For of what benefit is it to have all the greatest gadgets of technology, and to live a life of ease, if our foundation isn’t strong enough to benefit or to keep us safe?

As I sit her looking out the window at the hills around me and at the darkening sky above, I think about the future of our world and nation.  I wonder about the many who aren’t prepared for the days ahead.

Perhaps some have stock-piled ammo and have canned hundreds of quarts of meat and vegetables.  Maybe even some have already hunkered down in their underground bunkers or caves.

But I wonder if they’ve forgotten the greatest need of preparedness.  Have they decided to put their faith and hope in the man of Jesus or do they think rather that the arm of the flesh will save them instead?

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God,”   Psalm 20:7.

And yet others are of the mindset that eating and drinking and partying is the life to choose.

But as we know it is written:

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,”   Matthew 24:37-39.

Or are you rather of the viewpoint that very soon you’ll be raptured out from this earthly home, and you’ll rise-up in the clouds before any darkness comes?

Yes, surely those days will be shortened for the sake of the elect, but shortened doesn’t mean eliminated all together.

It’s best to be prepared my friends – best to put on a spirit of endurance unto the end.  Now that doesn’t mean that we are without hope, for surely, ‘hope deferred makes the heart sick,’ but we hope in the daily presence of God, believing that He will not test us beyond what we can endure.

The LORD would say,

“Now is the time for preparation, would say the LORD.  For what is coming is going to be unlike anything you have ever been through before.

The weather patterns, the earthquakes, and the violence all speaks to this.  For if My people don’t prepare then you will be left on sinking sand.

What man who would build a house would not first secure the foundation?

Which one of you who has first secured the building has not yet considered the material of the walls?

Build as ones who are ready for the storms of life and secure your homes as an anchor that would withstand the great storms that are coming.”

(May we live in hope and walk every day out in faith, believing that He who sees the end of the road ahead will give us enough light to live each and every day in preparedness for anything that is coming.)
