Most successful pastors who draw large numbers today, have perfected the art to preach messages that are sympathetic to their audience, as “earth dwellers.”
Most of what is preached focuses on man’s existence on earth and on successfully living his life on earth with the help of inspired preaching.
Weakness is “hugged” and overlooked in the name of humanity.
Money and all matters of concern with regards to self-improvement and prosperity, both now and in the future is preached and prophesied — and people love it!
Here is the problem:
Instead of preparing God’s people for Heaven, they are being preached into earthly comfort.
Instead of pointing them Heavenward, they are being focused on the best they can have now on earth.
Instead of being taught to be no more than sojourners on earth, they are motivated to put down roots and to grow.
Instead of focusing on building themselves spiritually, spiritual things are used to teach them how to live more like the world and to share in its success.
Strangely, Jesus never taught these things, neither did the apostles, not one of them, and neither Paul. They all taught the opposite and lived to prove and validate their message.
It seems we have been successful in reversing the old cliche of “not being so Heavenly minded that you are of no earthly good” — and not to our eternal benefit!
