Ministry Success and The Productivity Season — 5 Comments

  1. I think there is a very great danger for those who have successful ministries to regard this as the Lord’s endorsement of their lives, so that any unrepented sin does not matter.  It would have been better to have been the repentant thief on the cross, who had had no ministry on earth, but who was told by Jesus,
““Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”” [Luke 23:43]
than to have been one of the many successful ministers, who had prophesied, cast out demons and done many wonders – all in His Name, but were instead told,
“‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” [Matthew 7:23]

  2. Unfortunately, the church (as an institution) becomes a self-protecing organism that controls everything — including the definition of effective ministry. Church by the numbers, church by the balance sheet.. The corruption is systemic and includes putting pastors on pedestals — and exiling anyone who confronts the corruption. It’s all coming down. God doesn’t hide it, or make deals with devils, the corrupt instintution expunges the Word, and God’s judgement is patient and sure.

    • Agreed!  There is often an unspoken agreement between the “pastor” and the “flock”.  The “pastor” agrees not to speak on some of the things which Jesus said that are unpalatable to human flesh, while the “flock” agrees to stay with him and to tithe into his “church” rather than to go to another “church” nearby.
