The Leviathan spirit is the king of the children of pride in our Nations; as well as among the religious sect!

Job 41:1-2 KJV, state’s, “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?  or his tongue with a cord which thou letters down?  Canst thou put an hook into his nose?  or bore his jaw through with a thorn?

“Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?

Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.

Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?”  (Job 41:4-10 KJV)

So, many are walking in a spirit of pride and rebellion in this season!

They are like unto the creature Leviathan!  They have become boastful, braggadocio-us, and their eyes have become closed to prayer and much supplication because they refuse to communicate with God!

Job let’s us know this spirit is not one you want to play with, but in order to defeat it you need God to humble the hearts of those walking in it!

This spirit is rude, rough and uncaring to the feelings of others because it is a selfish spirit!

His companions and those that keep covenant with it are just like him, because they are servant to him!

Leviathan will not share his glory with his companions, because he is the life of the party!  And, becomes threatened when his authority is challenged in any way!

In other words, he wants full and complete control; unlike the nature of Christ he is not humble or meek in heart!

This spirit’s protection is his scales, skin which Job compares to barbed wire!  He is an evil warrior at heart!

People of God the reason some religious and political individuals are so powerful is because of the spirit of Leviathan!

Leviathan

Job states, “Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.” 

(He is a person who will not forget or forgive but will come after you with a vengeance to tear and eat much flesh!

His mouth and his teeth are deadly weapons that will kill you all by itself because he is a dragon breathing demonic spirit that loves to cut His victims!)

“Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?  None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him?  whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.”  (Job 41:8-11 KJV)

How do you identify pride?

Self Entitlement

Self-sacrifice stems from a humble heart.  Entitlement is rooted in a prideful heart.  The core of the gospel is that we are NOT entitled to anything, except just punishment for our sins (Romans 3:23; 6:23).

Yet we deceive ourselves into thinking we’re better than what we are, so we deserve better than we have.

We think we deserve God’s mercy.  We think we deserve people’s praise.  We think we deserve love, success, comfort, accolades.  And, we certainly don’t think we deserve suffering, heartbreak, servanthood or discipline.

The disciples wrestled with entitlement many times.  On one occasion, they were arguing about who was the greatest.

They selfishly thought they deserved honor and glory.  But Jesus’ response to them was a rebuke rather than honor.

And said, “Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves,”   (Luke 22:26).

In our Nations we have forgotten what integrity, honor, character and pure decency is all about!

Ingratitude

Instead, we have become a nation that wants what we feel is our right.

Humility recognizes that God is good, that He gives us what He knows we need, so we have no reason to be ungrateful.  There is nothing we lack (Deuteronomy 2:7; Psalm 34:9).

The Israelites’ grumbled in the wilderness, though God fed, clothed, and led them through it (Exodus 16:2; Deuteronomy 8:2).

Their stubborn, rebellious, and stiff heartedness rejected God’s daily mercies out of a foundation of self-idolization.

Instead of being thankful they complained and grumbled, but God’s Word rebukes our proud grumbling with this command: “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world…”  (Philippians 2:14-15).

People Pleasing

Pride is self-worship (all about you and what you want) and self-preservation at all costs — and people-pleasing is the direct result of pride.

We want glory and recognition instead of not allowing our left hand knowing what our right hand is doing.

WE WANT ADVERTISEMENT AND PRAISE!

Some think people-pleasing is a positive trait because they’re so clearly concerned with serving others.

But that belief is nothing more than a sneaky sheepskin we put over a wolfish habit.  You notice Christ never sought to be noticed!

It was times he told them He healed to tell nobody but go your way or He road on a donkey and wore a simple garment!

People-pleasing is all about self-satisfaction — fearing man more than God — and seeking the fleeting happiness that comes from man’s approval or our own narcissistic behaviors!

The apostle Paul knew human approval was a pointless and prideful pursuit.  Because of that, he could say, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?  Or am I trying to please man?  If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ”  (Galatians 1:10).

Prayerlessness

Pride deceives us into thinking we can “do life” on our own like leviathan and we don’t need anybody else help!

And, that we’re capable, independent, unstoppable, and self-reliant.  We think we don’t need God every hour, that we don’t need his help, grace, mercy, courage, and hope because we worked hard to accomplish what we have!

Rather than God helping us to obtain it!  So, surely, we don’t need to pray.

But a humble heart submits itself to God in prayer because it knows it can do nothing without him.

When God called Jonah to go to Nineveh, Jonah’s response was not to go to God in prayer.

Instead, he fled, his heart furiously and arrogantly silent (Jonah 1:3).  When God humbled him in the belly of a great fish, Jonah finally cried out in prayer (Jonah 2:1).

Hypocrisy

When you’re proud, you elevate your status, forgetting the mercy God has shown you.

You think you’re better and holier than everyone else,  (the gospel is for everyone else but you; especially those in leadership positions. Jonah saw Nineveh but could not see his own sins!) and you easily find fault with others.

Pride produces a hypocritical spirit.

The Pharisees’ hypocritical pride blinded them to their sin and to God’s mercy — which made them cold-hearted and cruel toward others.

Jesus had harsh words for them: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness”  (Matthew 23:27).

Rebellion

Rebellion against God manifests itself in resistance toward the Word (Nations and those who forget God shall be turned into hell) and the spiritual leaders he has placed in our lives.

It is the reflex of a prideful heart.  It also shows itself in a lack of submission — wives, to your husbands; children, to your parents; employees, to your bosses; citizens, to your government.

Rebellion says, “I know better than you, God,” when you don’t.

We see rebellion in the first people God created: Adam and Eve (pride, and rebellion).

Even though they had all they needed for life and joy, out of pride they rebelled against God’s good decree, thinking they knew better than him.  And this rebellion brought pain, suffering, and death — for them and for us.

People it is time to re-examine our hearts in this season and why we are connected to others in this season?

Could it be because they walk in pride, and rebellion?
