The New Normal? — 4 Comments

  1. I became a psychologist rather than a minister because psychologists measure behavioural change (pull factor). Also, I was bored in church (push factor). Later, I learned that the Lord measures heart change – in me. The Lord, not psychology, is first in my life. I have to be careful that psychology doesn’t distract me from the Lord.

  3. Great word study. Love it! Just so happens, earlier this AM, I was studying 2Peter 1:2-3
    Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
    3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

    I looked up “PEACE” on the Online Etymology site and here is its definition:
    peace (n.)
    mid-12c., pes, “freedom from civil disorder, internal peace of a nation,” from Anglo-French pes, Old French pais “peace, reconciliation, silence, permission” (11c., Modern French paix), from Latin pacem (nominative pax) “compact, agreement, treaty of peace, tranquility, absence of war” (source of Provençal patz, Spanish paz, Italian pace), from PIE root *pag- “to fasten” (which is the source also of Latin pacisci “to covenant or agree;” see pact), on the notion of “a binding together” by treaty or agreement.

    The PIE root “PAG” means “to fasten”. Now tie this in with the H.S.’ usage in both verses, 2 + 3, of the Greek word G1922>EPIGNOSIS, meaning Full or True Knowledge. It’s not just the basic G1097 Gnosis. The translators real botched it. A word study of G1922 and G1921 is quite revealing.

    All that to say, The Depth of His Grace/Favor and Peace (Security) IN our spirits is determined IN and THROUGH The Depth of our Father and Son Epignosis and Relationship.
