Why You Must Not Fail to Take the Communion Often — 4 Comments

  1. Dear Jacob Awagah, I like the connections between “humility” and “communion.” His humility was greater than my pride. He was born in humble circumstances and He died in humiliating circumstances.

Let me share an experience in our church. The senior pastor had to repent because we were using blackcurrant juice in communion. Nothing can replace the blood of Jesus. However, Jesus Himself allowed us to use wine (or new wine/grape juice) in communion. I just learned that the NT uses 7 different words for “wine.”

I think it is possible to go by the letter AND by the Spirit. We have wine or new wine in the natural and this element represents the blood in the Spirit. I prefer not to use leavened bread in communion because of the leaven of the Pharisees (Luke 12:1).

I think communion services should include “humility” because I am better at “pride” than I am at “humility.” The “mantle of humility” (see Rick Joyner) that Jesus wore as He carried His cross covered His wounds and absorbed His blood. I think that point supports the connection between “humility” and “communion.” Thank you Jacob for this article.
