Aging Opens Doors

As I approach another commemoration of my birth, The LORD has been reminding me of some milestones passed recently and not so recently.
I wasn’t called as a prophet until I was 52 years old.
I spent 15 of the intervening years sitting at the feet of my late mentor studying but mainly learning and practicing the Gift of Prophecy.
This included 3 years traveling the world, mostly Europe, with my mentors prophetic healing ministry.
I then spent another 15 years honing that gift, writing, and learning more about the prophetic calling — and a little about healing and deliverance as well.
That’s how I got here, where I am today, and at my age now, most people would say “Enough”!
Yet God, in that wonderful way of His, said, “Hold on there Chris, I’ve got a few things for you to do!”
To prove that, He has continued His practice, with me at least, of opening unexpected doors.
The LORD has a long history of opening doors for me.
- In 1995 He introduced me to prophecy aged 52.
- In 2000 He opened the door to Australia for me aged 57.
- In late 2007 He opened the door to itinerant ministry with my mentor and for over 3 years we made about 140 or so trips throughout Europe plus a trip to Lakeland in 2008.
- In 2010, after 3 years on my own, He opened the door to love again.
It was totally unexpected, unsought, and wonderful!
I married again — to my precious Linda — and The LORD opened the door to a new type of ministry.
This was orchestrated by God — neither of us was seeking — God just did it! Long story!
- In 2011, He gave us a ministry and moved us out of London to a more peaceful Lincolnshire and then, in 2015, to South Yorkshire, where we still live.
- In 2019, on my 76th birthday, I was diagnosed with blood cancer (myeloma) and He had a prophet prophesy “15 more years!”
And 6 years on I’m still puzzling the medics! We are already looking beyond those 15 years!
Now He is opening more doors for us, has indeed already opened a few, and we are quite excited at the prospects awaiting us in the fast approaching church growing and revival season.
Some people seem to think we have some valuable experience to share with the younger generations, and even some wisdom to go along with that experience. It’s definitely an age thing!
So why tell you all of this?
To encourage some of you as you approach or enter senior citizenship!
Moses was 80 when he led the Israelites out of Egypt, and 120 when he reached the promised land.
- Caleb was 85 and “still strong”.
- Abraham was 90-100 when he fathered Isaac.
- John was apparently 80-90 when he wrote the book of Revelations.
“So what?” you say! You may well ask!
God has plans for you and no matter what your age, and He will open the door for you!
God will enable you — equip you — finance you, etc, if necessary.
God has had a New Door ready for us every time we think we’ve finished an assignment from Him.
Look how He has used, and is still using us. We’re not special — just willing to keep on obeying God.
“Even in your old age, I am He, and even to grey hairs I will carry you! I have made and I will bear; Even I will carry you and I will deliver you!” Isaiah 46:4.

Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.

Thank you to all you lovely folk who have commented here. You have encouraged me as much as I hope I’ve encouraged you all!
God bless you all
Chris
