Ancient Mantles

Last week I shared a Word The LORD gave me about the Prophet Jeremiah and the intense challenges he and other biblical Prophets faced — “A Fire Shut Up in Your Bones!“
The LORD told Jeremiah that He called and sanctified him before he was formed in his mother’s womb to be a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah’s response was “Behold I cannot speak; I am a youth” but The LORD told him not to say that and he would go wherever The LORD sent him.
He also said “Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you.” (Jeremiah 1:8)
There was a man named Joseph who was favored by his father above his brothers, He gave him a coat of many colors.
This was a metaphor of the prophetic calling, and the authority upon his life.
Notice that it was after he received this Mantle, that he began to have dreams in which God showed him his own and other people’s destinies.
His brothers were so jealous, they stripped him of his coat, threw him into a pit, and deceived their father into thinking he was dead by putting goat’s blood on it.
As I was reading this tonight, The Holy Spirit showed me that this blood upon the Mantle is symbolic for the redeeming Blood of Jesus upon his life and ministry.
Joseph went through many horrific trials including false accusations and imprisonment before he came into the fullness of what God called him to do.
God used him in unexpected ways because he remained faithful.
Psalm 103 says, speaking of Joseph:
“Until the time that his Word came to pass, the Word of The LORD tested him.” Psalm 103:19.
One time Potiphar’s wife accused Joseph of seducing her and she tore his garment from him to try to make him look guilty. (Genesis 39:12)
This was the second garment taken from him.
I believe that it symbolized his identity. It represented a garment of humility, honesty and loyalty.
Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. (Genesis 41:42)
As I’m writing this the Holy Spirit is showing me that the enemy is trying to strip some of you of your identity.
Although he’s tested and tried you, The LORD says; “It’s all part of my plan!
I have created you and called you with divine purpose and assignment.
I’ve chosen you to be My Ambassador, and My Voice to The Nations, yet, you folded under adversity.
Every time the fiery furnace got hotter, you walked out, not able to handle it.
I want you to reclaim your ground. Reclaim your identity in Me!” says The LORD.
There is a story in the Old Testament about the prophet Elijah and his successor who became the prophet Elisha.
Elisha began his ministry as a servant to Elijah as he was plowing twelve yolk of oxen, and Elijah approached him and threw his mantle upon him. (1 Kings 19:19)
This was the first mantle that Elisha received from Elijah. Each day Elisha followed Elijah closely and would not leave his side.
After a season in which Elisha had served Elijah, The LORD was about to take Elijah.
He asked Elisha; “What may I do for you before I am taken away?” (2 Kings 2:9)
Elisha responded; “I want a double portion of your Spirit (anointing).”
This word for Spirit in the original Hebrew context is ruwach which is breath, wind, spirit. It is referring to the living breath of God, a “Living mantle.”
Elijah replied, that if Elisha saw him being taken, his request would be granted.
Soon after, a chariot of fire with horses of fire appeared, separated them and took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind.
His mantle fell upon Elisha and he received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. Elisha’s ministry did not began until Elijah’s ministry ended. (2 Kings 2:13-15)
We often wonder, what happened to the ancient Mantles and the Anointing that was upon those who have gone before us.
I believe that the Prophetic Sons and Daughters will succeed the ministries of their Spiritual Mentors in the coming days, experiencing an acceleration of the anointing placed upon them. Their ceilings will become our floors.
We are in a season when The LORD is once again raising up men and women to be used in the same way as the prophets of old.
The LORD is placing His Anointing upon us in the courts of Pharaoh. These Mantles are from the God who created heaven and earth.
Man could not give anyone such Anointing and Authority. It could only be imparted through The LORD Jesus himself.
We are called to be His Ambassadors, demonstrate His power, and release His Glory.
The LORD has placed His Rod of Authority into our hands, and placed His Sword of The Spirit in our mouths.
He has placed a Grace of Authority around our neck, and a Signet Ring on our finger.
This is a costly Anointing.
It’s not to be taken lightly! It is a heavy Mantle of God’s Glory. It’s a heavenly Calling that demands sacrifice and dedication.
We are the generation who will walk in His Power and release His Glory on this earth as it is in heaven.
We are not mere men and women, but we are a Chosen Generation, a Royal Priesthood, a Holy Nation who will release others out of the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light.
Jesus is calling us to walk in the Authority, and receive the anointing and the mantles that He has for us.
The LORD is about to do wonders among us in this season.
“He sent a man before them — Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of The LORD proved him true.” Psalm 105:17.
“The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom. Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants.” Psalm 105:20-25.
