One Day is Like a Thousand Years…
A psalm to praise and sing to God aloud.
One Day is Like a Thousand Years…
To man the days come and go
To man his life is measured by the works of his hands
To man he follows the ways of his own wisdom
To man he thinks he has all the time in the world…
Yet his days are numbered
Like the grass in the meadow:
Flourishing in the morning; withered in the evening
And then he is no more and he flys away
In his youth he merry makes
Living only for the day
He lives his life according
To what he thinks is right
For The LORD’s Ways fall to the wayside
To man, the desires of his soul rise above
And he woefully lacks understanding
So he allows his emotions and will to take ahold
But time is passing, passing rapidly
Suddenly he finds himself forty years later
Wondering where the years went
And what little there is to show for it…
For the enemy has come in like a flood
To steal, kill and destroy
All because man went his own way—
Mislead by stubbornness, pride and rebellion
And yet God is still merciful
Still long-suffering through it all
His Love ever extended
Giving man chance after chance
Space and time to change
Hating the sin, but loving the sinner
Yes, hating the sin, but loving the sinner
He sends many to show the Way
To gently move hearts
To receive the message of His Eternal Promise
Oh how long-suffering The LORD is!
He waits even for the most stiffed-necked
To turn from his ways and repent…
So wake up
He is waiting for you, yes, you!
His Arms are opened in love
Take the step, yes, you!
You will see that His Ways are better
And all will go well with your soul!
But don’t forget this one thing,
Loved ones, that with The LORD
One day is like a thousand years,
And a thousand years are like one day.
The LORD is not slow in keeping His Promise,
As some consider slowness.
Rather, He is being patient toward you—
Not wanting anyone to perish,
But for all to come to repentance.
So wake up!
He is waiting for you, yes, you!
His Arms are opened in love
Take the step, yes, you!
You will see that His Ways are better
And all will go well with your soul!
Oh yes, one day is like a thousand years,
And a thousand years are like one day.
So wake up!
He is waiting for you, yes, you!
His Arms are opened in love
Take the step, yes, you!
You will see that His Ways are better
And all will go well with your soul!
Oh yes, one day is like a thousand years,
And a thousand years are like one day.
Oh The LORD is still waiting….
But one day He will wait no more
Like a thief in the night He will come
So seek Him while He still may be found…
You will see that His Ways are better
And all will go well with your soul!
“But don’t forget this one thing, loved ones, that with The LORD one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The LORD is not slow in keeping His promise, as some consider slowness. Rather, He is being patient toward you—not wanting anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8-9 Tree of Life
“My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you…Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear The LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones…Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies. And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.” Proverbs 3:1-3; 7-8; 13-18 NKJV
“When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.” Proverbs 11:2-4 NKJV
“So shall they fear he name of The LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of The LORD will lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19 NKJV
“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek The LORD shall not lack any good thing.” Psalm 34:10 NKJV
“Seek The LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6 NKJV
“But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’” Jeremiah 7:23 NKJV
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 NKJV
“You turn man to destruction, and say, “Return, O children of men.” For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. You carry them away like a flood; they are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: in the morning it flourishes and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers…. The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:3-6, 10 NKJV
