King of the Jews: If You Don’t Appreciate Him, You Depreciate Him — and Miss God
“Kiss The Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His Wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” Psalm 2:12 NKJV.
The trumped-up criminal charges brought against Jesus, and for which He suffered The Death Penalty of The Cross?
Saying Who He is: The King of the Jews. The Son of God. (See John 19:19-22; Matthew 27:11; 26:62-66).
Indeed, the written charge (notice of accusation) was prominently displayed above His Head on The Cross at Calvary for all to see (John 19:19-20):
“Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him. And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.” Mark 15:25-26 NKJV.
But about thirty years earlier, other people had travelled from FAR to worship this same Jesus for being “born King of the Jews.”
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His Star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2 NKJV.
King of the Jews: What others came from far to worship Him for, others later accused Him of and crucified Him for.
What others appreciated, others depreciated, despised and crucified!
The first lot yielded to The Holy Spirit, the other lot yielded to witchcraft deception, manipulation and control.
The Blessing of God you depreciate (instead of appreciate), you will despise and crucify!
That’s what they did to Jesus.
And that’s what many wives do to their husbands, many husbands do their wives.
That’s what many children do to their parents, many parents do to their children.
That’s what many employees do to their employers, many employers do to their employees.
Oh yeah, I know. Your spouse, parent(s), your offspring, employer, employee?
Far from perfect.
But, is there nothing at all to appreciate about that person or organisation?
The Jews, the pharisees, the sadducees, the scribes, the chief priests and other persecutors never appreciated Rabbi Yeshua in spite of all the good He did before their very eyes, the AMAZING unprecedented Divine Doctrines and Wisdom He taught, the countless miracles He did, the many afflictions He healed.
Are you likely doing the same thing to Jesus today, in spite of all the good and goodness He has done for us, even sacrificing His very Life to deliver us from death?
Appreciate Jesus, don’t depreciate Him. He is worthy to be appreciated. He is worthy to be praised.
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30 KJV.
Appreciate The Blessings God has blessed you with. Count your blessings and thank God for them.
In spite of your spouse’s many failings, appreciate him or her for the blessings he or she has been to you, is to you.
In spite of the inadequacies of the people in your life, appreciate them.
In spite of the many challenges we battle in life, let us appreciate Jesus for Who is to us and What He has done for us.
Let us continually appreciate our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ — The King of the Jews.
“Make a joyful shout to The LORD, all you lands! Serve The LORD with gladness; Come before His Presence with singing. Know that The LORD, He is God; It is He Who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His Pasture. Enter into His Gates with thanksgiving, and into His Courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His Name. For The LORD is good; His Mercy is everlasting, and His Truth endures to all generations.” Psalm 100:1-5 NKJV.
Ha! Our prayers to be answered?
Aplenty!
However, led by The Holy Spirit, we are to worship God in Spirit and in Truth: for Who He is and for What He has done for us.
As He said,
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship The Father in Spirit and Truth; for The Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth.” John 4:23-24 NKJV.
Continually appreciate Jesus with your whole spirit, soul and body; yes, with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all strength.
“Bless The LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name! Bless The LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His Benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with Lovingkindness and Tender Mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executes Righteousness and Justice for all who are oppressed.” Psalm 103:1-6 NKJV.
There are billions of souls burning in hell right now — never to come out. There are many more dropping into hell right now — never to come out.
But you and I, by The Mercies of Jesus, we have opportunity right now to choose never to go there — by daily believing and obeying Him.
Has Jesus forgiven you all your iniquities and delivered you from eternity in hell?
He certainly has.
Appreciate Him.
What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?
If for nothing at all, appreciate Jesus for saving your soul from eternal death in The Lake of Fire and Brimstone.
Appreciate Jesus.
Consider this. Here we are in a world infested by exceedingly wicked, endlessly violent spiritual beings, billions and billions more than human beings.
This world is under seige by the devil and his angels.
Only in Jesus, through Jesus and with Jesus are we safe, have refuge and able to fight them. We only overcome them by His Blood and Word.
Oh, appreciate Jesus.
Only by believing and obeying The LORD Jesus Christ do we defeat and destroy evil spirits.
Do you know What Jesus means to us?
All of GOD! (Colossians 1:19; 2:9).
Jesus is The Treasure hidden in the field (Matthew 13:44).
He is The Treasure without measure.
Jesus is The One Pearl of Great Price (Matthew 13:45-46).
As The Door, He is Everyone of The 12 Pearl Gates through which we enter Heaven (John 10:7,9; Revelation 21:21; Matthew 13:45-46).
Jesus Christ is The Creator and Owner of ALL things. Hence, in all things, He must have The Preeminence (Colossians 1:18).
As such, even on The Cross, they crucified “Jesus in The Center.” (John 19:18).
But one of the two criminals crucified with Him, blasphemed Him — depreciated Him; but the other chose to honour Him — appreciate Him.
And when he did and asked, Jesus gave Him Instant Access to Paradise.
“Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are The Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but This Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”” Luke 23:39-43 NKJV.
When you appreciate Jesus, your life will appreciate to Paradise Level.
Gratitude to God lifts you to God’s Altitude.
We gain access into His Gates and Court (Royal Palace) with thanksgiving and praise.
“Enter into His Gates with thanksgiving, And into His Courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His Name.” Psalm 100:4 NKJV.
Appreciate Jesus. He is WORTHY!
“The LORD Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:22.
“Farewell” Acts 15:29.
~ Jacob Addison Awagah
Jacob, an apostle of JESUS CHRIST by The Will of GOD, according to The Promise of Life Which is in CHRIST JESUS, (2 Timothy 1:1).
Like John, I like to put my head to The Heart of JESUS so as to know and do His Will always. What’s in His Heart is what matters now and FOREVER. His Heart’s Desire is my only desire. My will is to do His Will.
As John was, I am the disciple whom JESUS loves. And like Paul, I am “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS” (Ephesians 3:1) for His Purpose forever: to obey Him always.
NB. Surely, the disciple whom JESUS loves and “the prisoner of CHRIST JESUS”, like ALL The Promises of GOD, are available to every believer to obtain, just as John and Paul did.
“And having been perfected, He [JESUS] became The Author of Eternal Salvation to all who obey Him,” Hebrews 5:9.
