It has become acceptable, even en vogue for a politician to say one thing and do another. As a matter of fact, many of the American people have come to expect this behavior.
Yet in treating the American people and the world in this manner they are only demonstrating where their alliances lie. If I say “yes” and mean no, or say “no,” but mean yes, that can be simply defined as a lie.
Jesus defined clearly the origination of liars and of lies when He said in description of Satan, “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Do not many say these exact words of politicians? Do they not laugh as they say, “You know they are lying because their lips are moving?”
The LORD wants a nation and a people whose yeses are yeses and their nos are nos. To say one thing in public and do something else in private is the description of another word, “hypocrite.”
[hypocrite: 1) a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2) a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, especially one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.]
I hear the LORD declaring that we must have leaders whose yeses are yeses and their nos are nos. I also hear Him declaring that we as a people must do the same.
Let us be lovers of and speakers of the truth. Let us not accept it any other way. What did Jesus say? “You will know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you free.”
As we witness the presidential race (which frankly looks more like a 3 ring circus) to determine who might be the president over the next 4 years, it is important that the intercessors pray for a man who speaks the truth to come into power in this nation.
It may seem that such a man cannot be found and that is all the more reason to pray.
We need a man who means what he says as the American people cannot survive another 4 years of deception.
