Fasting and Prayer is Better Than ‘Groupthink’!
During this time of Fasting and Prayer, there have been many things that The LORD has been sharing with me.
This particular issue I feel is very important to consider. The LORD spoke to me about the psychological term “Groupthink” and how in this time many people have been taken over by that thought process.
To clarify allow me to share this short definition. (But there is more depth to understanding this term.)
Groupthink is (as a psychological term) a phenomenon that occurs when a group of well-intentioned people make rational or non-optimal decisions spurred by the urge to conform or the belief that dissent is impossible.
The problematic consensus that is characteristic of Groupthink may be fueled by a particular agenda — or it may be due to group members valuing harmony and coherence above critical thinking. (From Psychology Today, 1971)
To me this is a serious thing.
Some while trying to unify with a particular group could enter a consensus formed by a great deception.
Even those who don’t want to stand alone in what they might think or believe may agree rather than to be ostracized.
And as a result, fall prey by moving with the crowd!
As I continued to pray, I came into the understanding that if anyone conforms to this mindset . . . they could become seriously deceived and mute the discernment from The LORD that we so need in this hour!
I can’t begin to emphasize the importance of as time of Fasting and Prayer, while being quiet before The Presence of The LORD.
If we ever needed wisdom from The LORD and to walk in sharp Discernment — it is now!
So, I would say vet all sources before The LORD.
There are many scriptures that ring out in my heart right now, but I am not going to get into proof texting.
If we are going to walk in wisdom in this hour. . . we must know where we are going, what we are saying and who we are following.
There are so many things that are going on visibly before our eyes however our view could be seriously flawed because of our filters.
. . . . . continuing in quiet presence before HIM.
