This morning I drove past a hardware store and I noticed that they had several ladders outside on display in brightly painted colors and different heights. The ladders ranged from six feet to twenty feet. When I looked at them I instantly thought of Jacobs ladder, and the Holy Spirit released this Word to me.
In the book of Genesis chapter 28, Isaac told Jacob to go to Padan Aram to get a wife. As Jacob pursued his father’s request and went on his journey, he stopped to sleep with his head on a stone.
He had a dream which was not just an ordinary dream, but it was a prophetic dream/ encounter in which God spoke to him.
In this dream the LORD showed Jacob a ladder going up into heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it, and the LORD standing above it. He then gave Jacob a promise which was similar to the promise that He gave to Abraham.
As I was reading this, the Holy Spirit highlighted verse fifteen to me where the LORD said to him: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
The LORD said that He will bring to completion all that He has promised to you. There are ministries to be birth, as well as spiritual encounters and promises that have not yet come to pass in your life.
There are dreams that have not yet been fulfilled, and visions that have not yet been released. Some of you will also have angelic visitations and many will have God encounters as we come into a season of open heavens.
When Jacob awoke from his sleep he said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
Gates are used metaphorically throughout the Word of God. They speak of entrances, access points, passages, or portals to transition from one place to another. In the bible they are also used figuratively as an invitation or opportunity, and they are symbolic for separations from the natural realm and the supernatural realm.
We are in a season of hearing the voice of God in a profound way. Jesus is speaking to us from His word, in dreams, as well as in everyday life.
The Holy Spirit will also reveal the gates to heaven to you in your dreams. He is inviting us to come up to a higher place where we will receive visions and heavenly encounters, and He is giving promotions to new levels of authority.
He is also releasing keen discernment so that we will be wise as serpents, yet gentle as doves and receive all that Jesus has for us in this time and season.
“Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: “I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”” Genesis 28:10-16.
“For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,” Job 33:14-16.
“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne,” Revelation 4:1-2.
