“You have followed Me for so long.

You know John 3:16. In it tell you I love the world. It is powerful scripture but you know it so well you don’t always open your heart to it. Sometimes it feels too impersonal.

So let Me show you Galatians 2:20.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Think about this. Read it again, slowly.

I live in you.

I gave Myself for you.

You say you know this too… but do you?

You know I came that you might have life and have it to the full.

You know I AM with you.

You know you are the apple of My eye.

You know you are engraved on the palms of My hand.

You know I will never leave or forsake you.

You know every tear you shed is precious to Me and treasured by Me.

You know I suffered for you.

You know I would have endured the Cross just for you.

You know I died for you.

You know I reign in you.

You know I delight in you.

You know I never stop doing good to you.

You know I Love you.

You know you love Me because I loved you first.

You know I have loved you from before the beginning of time.

I. Love. You.

Believe it. Really believe it.

Those who fully receive My love are set free to love Me fully. I build our relationship on this foundational truth. If you are shaky here, you will find it hard to stand firm.

Live every moment like I love you. Not only the world, but you, personally. I set you free to love Me with your whole heart.”

Prayer:

LORD, You are good and Your love endures forever. We only ever love You because You first loved us.

You created us to live in relationship with You. You are worthy of all our devotion.

To love You properly we must first know how much You love us.

I am finding it hard to receive Your love, Lord.

I am so sorry, please forgive me. Please could You show me what in my past or present is preventing me from fully receiving Your love?

Please help me to heal and show me how to deal with it.

Please help me to believe You keep me as the apple of Your eye, that You love me and will never stop doing good to me, because you delight in me.

Out of Your glorious riches, give me revelation and resurrection power deep inside me, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, so Jesus comes alive in me. Make Your love come alive in me.

Root me and ground me in Your eternal love. Give me power, together with all your church, to fully comprehend just how much You love me.

I want to love You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I want to love You with everything I am.

I want to love myself and others as You love us, healthily and unconditionally.

Lord, You are love. Make my heart home to You. Be my first love. Be my treasure in Heaven. Make Your Presence, Your Name, Your Renown, Your Glory and Your Honour be all my desire. Make my heart entirely Yours.

In Jesus’s Name I pray, Amen.

Let Your Faith Become Absolutely Grounded in the Love of God

The love of God is central to Christian faith but this glorious light is so dim in so many of us. God is asking us to come higher.

Some of us find this difficult simply because we don’t quite believe He loves us. We know He does, yet this truth hasn’t yet come alive in our hearts.

The only way to this truth is through revelation by the Holy Spirit.

He is asking us to spend the time to lay this foundation deeply and well. Further advancement for His kingdom requires a solid foundation.

Do everything possible to submit to the Holy Spirit so He can completely ground you in the love of God.

If you need further ministry or healing, look for it. There is no shame in needing or receiving it.

Worship the Lord and meditate on His word. If we read with the Holy Spirit, the entire Old and New Testaments are God’s love letter to us.

The Gospels are a good place to start, as they give us the voice of Jesus. John 3, John 14-17, 1 John, and Romans 8 are well known.

Many posts here on HKP are about God’s love too, and there are many resources online if you search.

There are many books that may help better understand God’s love. The theology presented may not always fully line up with teachings in your own particular Church but discernment will lead you to what you need.

Don’t let disagreement or controversy blind you to the essential message of love or any scriptural truth The LORD wants to show you.

I would like to suggest a book that’s less well known, Walking Butterfly by Susie Klein. It is a short book with short chapters: if you have trouble reading much at a time, it isn’t too hard!

Her language is simple, clear and engaging. It might be a good book to read together and discuss in your family, possibly with older children, though of course read it first yourself and see.
