My Style Is Your Style
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
My Style Is Your Style
All through my life
Everyone around me had found their own style
Their very own walk
Fitting in so perfectly, or so it seemed,
Yet here I was still striving
It felt like walking along a dusty country road
Meant for someone else, anyone else but I
I tried on so many styles
Like one would try on clothes
Not one fitting perfectly, matching my soul
Deep inside I felt amiss
And I wondered why
Then one day, I heard the phrase:
“In this world, but not of it….”
Oh yeah, little did I know
That my style was Your Style
Oh yeah, anything else
Was worldly and not of You!
You are not slow in keeping Your Promise, oh no…
Your Voice was calling out across the countryside
I had tried on everything except for You
One day seemed like a thousand years
And the days kept passing on
I was still striving on that dusty country road
Almost empty on Hope
Not yet realizing the answer rested in You
Oh yeah, little did I know
That my style was Your Style
Oh yeah, anything else
Was worldly and not of You!
You are not slow in keeping Your Promise, oh no…
You were patient with me
Waiting in the wings—
Waiting still with Your Promise
Not wanting me to perish
But to come to repentance
Oh yeah, little did I know
That my style was Your Style
Oh yeah, anything else
Was worldly and not of You!
You are not slow in keeping Your Promise, oh no…
Then one day I discovered: I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are Your Works; my soul knows it very well.
There’s no more striving in the way I travel—
I left that dusty country road behind
And now Your Style has become mine!
Now I rejoice, O LORD!
I have finally found my style
I belong not of this world, but to You!
Now I praise You, O LORD!
You are not slow in keeping Your Promise, oh no…
Oh yeah, little did I know
That my style was Your Style
Oh yeah, anything else
Was worldly and not of You!
You are not slow in keeping Your Promise, oh no…
With The LORD a day is like a thousand years,
And a thousand years are like a day.
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16.
“Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8-9 AMPC.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2.

Gabrielle Fuehrer came to The LORD in Spring 2020 and soon began receiving inspiration from The Holy Spirit in the form of Poems (Psalms), meant to praise, glorify and worship our Lord Jesus Christ and uplift the Body of Christ. A preschool teacher, surrounded by the blessings and love of the little ones she teaches, Gabrielle also runs the website, “Imagine a Love Like That“.
“Let everything that has breath praise The LORD.” Psalm 150:6.
This poem was so touching that I cried deep inside in my soul. Thank you for your heavenly comfort. I love your style of bringing joy from the third heaven into the earth.
AMEN!
Love your style, sister.
