Setting Expectations Higher
I’ve often thought that I’m a bit of a one-trick-pony, because I bring so many similar Messages about Revival, Jesus’ return, or related issues.
So I asked The LORD about it.
First, He took me back to this post, originally from around 2015. I asked about bringing the same Message and He said nothing. BUT, just this morning, The LORD brought to mind this true story of the late, great, Billy Graham.
Apparently, while leading a week long crusade, he chose as his text for the first six nights, John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
As they were preparing for the final, ‘big night’ of the crusade, one of his host leaders approached him saying, “Dr Graham, you’ve preached the same text every night so far, might we expect something different for this final day?”
Billy Graham went away and he prayed about it and when the time came, he stood and walked purposefully to the lectern.
He nodded towards the pastor who had asked him for something different, then he opened his preach with something like these words.
“I have been asked for a different text for tonight, and I have prayed long and hard about it, and The LORD has answered my prayer.
There is no better verse for tonight’s message of salvation than John 3:16!”
Thousands got saved that night!
So it is with me today.
The LORD has brought me back to the Message of Revival — and related issues.
You see, there is no more important Message for today than the current move of Revival, which I and many others believe to be the prophesied ‘End-Time Revival’ and the events following.
Whether or not you believe in the rapture or the second coming is almost immaterial as the Message I have shouted from the rooftops these past few years is that Revival comes first — then Jesus is coming soon afterwards — either the Rapture or the Return!
I wrote a while back about our low level of expectation whenever we come to church. (See: Why Do You Go to Church? )
This has been playing on my mind today until The LORD prompted me further.
He took me, specifically, to this short passage –
“And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-5.
The LORD asked me this, “If you were that Church, and you received that Message, what would you expect to see or happen when you went to that Church?”
I answered, “LORD, I’d expect to see exactly what the writer spoke about — a demonstration of the Spirit and of power!”
“Exactly! So why, having read or at least heard that phrase in Church, do My People expect so little of Me?”
I had no answer!
“Tell My People — it’s time to raise their expectations of Me!
I do not come to your meetings just as a spectator. Rather, I come to bless you and to participate!
Too often, I AM virtually excluded.
More often, I AM silenced and only allowed to move when it’s convenient for you.
Most frequently, I AM welcomed, but only as a spectator, and if or when I AM allowed to manifest, an apology is given lest I have offended someone!
When was the last time, outside a specifically announced and planned service, when was the last time anyone expected Me to ‘show up’ (as is often said)?
A Testimony of any kind is often treated as a special event!
My People should be queuing up to testify, with expectation of more Testimonies to come from today’s meeting!
It is time to RAISE EXPECTATIONS in My people.
It’s TIME for them to EXPECT Me to move by My SPIRIT, in POWER, EVERY TIME THEY MEET TOGETHER!
Prayer meetings — EXPECT answers!
Regular meetings — EXPECT My Power to manifest in miracles!
Healing meetings — EXPECT greater miracles;
- EXPECT the blind shall see;
- EXPECT the deaf shall hear;
- EXPECT the lame to walk;
- EXPECT the dead to live again!
When you take to the streets,
- EXPECT the hungry to be fed;
- EXPECT the bound to be freed;
- EXPECT sinners to be saved!
RAISE YOUR EXPECTATIONS — of ME, and of yourselves!
LET FAITH RISE every time you meet, wherever you meet, whenever you meet, for whatever purpose you meet —
EXPECT ME TO FULFILL MY PROMISES!” says The LORD.
That is Revival!
And Jesus will be coming very soon afterwards!
~ Chris G. Bennett
Chris Bennett came to salvation in 1962 but didn’t begin ministry until 2007 — a late-comer! Now mandated by The LORD to prophesy and open old wells of revival in the U.K., but especially in Wales. He has also operated Healing Rooms, and worked with deliverance teams, all with his wife, Linda. Happily now doing whatever The LORD asks of them! Founder, with wife Linda, of their ministry The Upper Room Encounter.

I believe they understood and aligned with and obeyed this truth:
“I want you to be a carrier of My Glory, as I cloak you with it. I will mantle you with My Grace and Glory as you cast your burdens upon Me. You cannot carry both.”
Great quote. See also 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”.
Most or all of the past Remnant movers and shakers with HIGH KINGDOM RESULTS knew HIGH EXPECTANCY IS KEY!
As someone once said, “Ask little, expect little. Ask much, expect much!”
God is definitely speaking everywhere to “RAISE YOUR EXPECTANCY, PUT A DEMAND ON MY WORD AND EXPECT BIG, INVITE ME AND EXPECT ME TO GROW OUT THE LIMBS AND RAISE THE DEAD…”
It seems more likely post “I will SHAKE My church!”
My favourite quote is this – “If you pray for rain, carry an umbrella!”
Thank you Chris for this confirmation! The LORD and I had a conversation yesterday on Expectations. Thank you for your obedience to our God. Blessings
Thank you for your encouragement.
God bless you
