Sound The Trumpet!
“Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life” 1 Timothy 6:19.
Sound The Trumpet!
We live in a very uncertain world, with a very uncertain outcome for those that are living their lives dangerously — outside of The Will of God.
It is a tremendous battle, but we have been promised from The Word of God that we will be victorious in the end.
To Jesus we look, to Jesus we trust, to Jesus we owe all of our hope, trust, confidence, and full assurance of faith.
He is our Rock, Our Soon Coming King, Our Redeemer — Our Everything! He is The King of All Kings and Lord of All Lords! Praise His Name!
The LORD spoke to me sound the trumpet, while recently seeking Him and asking what He would have me to bring forth.
As we look out on the landscape of this world, we see violence, confusion, greed, arrogance — everything that is outside of The Will of God.
These are the last days — the last of the last days — and we are seeing things as we would expect as we approach The Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The trumpet sounding signifies several things in Scripture. As we look at Exodus Chapter 19, we see it heralding major announcements or pronouncements that The LORD is going to give.
Moses is about ready to receive the ten commandments from The LORD on mount Sinai. The people of Israel are anxious to hear what The LORD is going to say or do.
We see it as a stern warning to the people of God, a call to be vigilant and on your guard, for you are about to be in the presence of The LORD God Almighty! The LORD was going to,
“…. come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.” Exodus 19:11.
Bounds would be set up so that the people would not go up,
“…. into the mount, or touch the border of it:…” Exodus 19:12.
If they did, they would be put to death. They couldn’t touch it. If they did,
“…. he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live:…” Exodus 19:13.
And then The LORD says,
“…. when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount” Exodus 19:13.
And what happens when the trumpet sounds?
“And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled” Exodus 19:16.
The sound of the trumpet caused the people to tremble — to take note — to realize the awesome, tremendous power of Almighty God!
After the giving of the ten commandments, the people were frozen for fear of The LORD, so much so that they wanted only Moses to speak with them, and not God.
God was showing the children of Israel that He meant what He said and said what He means,
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not” Exodus 20:20.
Sounding the trumpet is an alarm — a wake up call — a major announcement — a proclamation — to take heed to Almighty God and what He is getting ready to do!
We also see the trumpet sounding in times of celebration, as when David and all Israel rejoiced in the carrying in of the ark into the City of David,
“So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of The LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet” 2 Samuel 6:15).
We see how sovereign and serious The LORD is, as Uzzah is struck down for touching the ark as it fell, while bringing the ark up from Gibeah.
It is indeed a fearful thing to fall into the hands of The Living God.
During times of praise, the trumpet also sounds!
We are exhorted in the Psalms,
“Praise ye The LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp,” Psalm 150:1-3.
We see the trumpet sounding in time of of war, as when Judah, under Abijah, went to battle against Jeroboam, who had forsaken The LORD and taken unto him children of Belial,
“And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against The LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper. But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them. And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto The LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets” 2 Chronicles 13:12-14.
We also see the trumpet sounding as a warning — as an alarm — that war is on the horizon,
“My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?” Jeremiah 4:19-21.
The Prophet Jeremiah was proclaiming to Judah and Jerusalem that war was on the horizon. Because they had turned away from God — because
“…. they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge” Jeremiah 4:22.
— war would soon be in their midst.
The LORD would,
“…. bring evil from the north, and a great destruction,” Jeremiah 4:6.
The end result would be the enemy would come and,
“…. make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant” Jeremiah 4:7.
Similarly, we see war on the horizon today.
“The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way…” Jeremiah 4:7.
We can see war clouds forming.
This nation — though it has, “…. a form of godliness, it denies, “the power thereof…” (2 Timothy 3: 5).
Though it is quite religious — it is full of lukewarmness and hypocrisy.
It sits as a queen and thinks it will see no harm — that it is unreachable — but the sword of The LORD goes far and wide to execute judgment, and justice, and that which is deserving of a recompense.
These are the days we are living in now.
The alarm of war has settled in our streets. Judgment will fall on this nation.
The only safe place is in the Arms of Jesus Christ. Run to Him now, while there is yet time! The night time comes when no man can work!
Revelation 8: 6 says,
“And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.”
We are living in the days when all things which are written are going to be fulfilled.
Alas, we come to that time that Jesus referred to,
“For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled,” Luke 21: 22.
Praise God, we know, at the end of it all, Jesus will come again, and on our lips should be,
“…. Even so, come, Lord Jesus,” Revelation 22: 20.
When He comes, the trumpet will sound, and The LORD is saying now to SOUND THE TRUMPET!
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” 1 Corinthians 15: 51-52.
Hallelujah to Our Most Holy and Wonderful God!
Amen!
