The communion of saints is our supernatural spiritual connection with all saints around the world at Mount Zion.

Messiah Jesus is seated at the right had of God in the Jerusalem that is above, where we are all seated in Messiah.

By the Holy Spirit, we can comprehend the communion of saints. For, we have been born again, born of the Spirit and thus see and enter the kingdom of God. Messiah Jesus told Nicodemus and tells us in order to see and enter God’s we must be born of water and Spirit, born again, born of the Spirit (John 3:5-8).

Since we are born of the spirit, we understand heavenly things. (John 3:12) So, we understand we are seated with Messiah in heavenly places.

“But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Messiah — by grace you have been saved — and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua,” Ephesians 2:4-6 (Ephesians 1:20; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 3:22)

Those heavenly places are at Mount Zion, where we are connected with all saints around the world in the communion of saints, the assembly of the first born, described in Hebrews 12.

God’s People of the old covenant came to Mount Sinai. We, God’s people of the new covenant. come to the heavenly mountain, Mount Zion.

“You have not come to something that can be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, to gloom, to a trumpet’s blast, or to a voice that made the hearers beg that not another word be spoken to them. For they could not endure the command that was given: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” Indeed, the sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.” Instead, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, to tens of thousands of angels joyfully gathered together, to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to a judge who is the God of all, to the spirits of righteous people who have been made perfect, to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better message than Abel’s.” Hebrews 12:18-24 ISV

We draw near to the throne of grace where Messiah sets at the right hand of God in heaven. (Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 12:2)

We see more spiritual reality of Mount Zion in 1 Peter 2, giving us even more understanding of our connection in the communion of saints.

“Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious. You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Yeshua the Messiah. Because it is contained in Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.” For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,” and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.”
For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:1-10.

The communion of saints is shown in personal one another relationships in the unity of The Spirit in the body of Messiah.

“I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one immersion, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in us all. But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Messiah.” Ephesians 4:1-7 (Ephesians 4:1-32)

Our spiritual connection in Messiah is affirmed and reinforced when we participate with one another in communion fellowship in the Lord’s Supper.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20.
