The Need for Mercy & Encouragement,
Even in the Most Severe of Judgments
“For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment,” James 2:13.
I have pondered the many messages that I have received, as well as a handful by others, concerning the fate of our country and the world.
With all of the warnings and the severity of the judgments that are imminent, I also know that we can’t neglect the fact that we also need to be encouraged and given hope.
For what watchman or prophet would not also provide a sense of hope and encouragement amidst the cloud of catastrophic events?
What seemingly hopeless journey would not need a cool glass of water at the end to welcome them?
We are told that mercy triumphs over judgment and indeed this is a true statement.
And yet even in the midst of such horrific displays of judgment, the Almighty is still a God of mercy.
For you see, with the judgment, the supreme hope is that many would then see the error of their ways, and then turn from their sinful ways to the truth.
But man seldom sees life this way. Most of us see a storm coming and then hope that the strong winds will not destroy us.
We trust that eventually the winds will subside and that life would return to some form of normalcy at the right time.
But sometimes life throws us a curve ball, and the unexpected comes in ways that can cause us to throw-up our hands and simply give up.
Those who were marched off to Babylon several thousand years ago certainly experienced this.
They lost their freedoms and were sent into captivity. It wasn’t until many years later that they were eventually freed and given their homeland back.
It is a deep reminder about those who wept by the waters of Babylon.
But moreover, we are then reminded that God’s mercies are new every morning ~ Great is His faithfulness.
And so it may well be for us in fact these things will come and then our very foundations will be shaken and they will fall to the ground.
‘The lady who carries the torch, she who stands in the harbor next to the great city, will topple and fall into the sea……’
But then where is the encouragement you may ask?
What hope is there when all hope will have seemingly vanished?
Those who have been told about these days, will stand on that day as lights in the darkness.
They will offer hope to the hopeless.
Many who will have left the cities will discover then how they can work together as one man in unison.
And then the desert places will give rise to new growth, and water will spring-up out of the dry land.
And even when the man doomed to perdition sets up his filthy throne, many will be set apart from his gaze.
But many will be deceived, even if possible, the very elect.
But he who endures to the end will be saved and will receive a white stone.
So shall it be…..
