The Road to Emmaus
“Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. And He said to them, ‘What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?’ Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, ‘Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?’ And He said to them, ‘What things?’
So they said to Him, ‘The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and crucified Him. But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened. Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the tomb early, astonished us.
When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive. And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.’
Then He said to them, ‘O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?’
And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. But they constrained Him, saying, ‘Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.’ And He went in to stay with them.
Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’” Luke 24:13-32.
This is a profound part of Scripture from when Jesus’ disciples are walking toward Revelation of Him.
In this week before Resurrection Day, I am again reminded that we are living in a profound time.
We are living in a time when many of The LORD’s People are unaware of the hour of the visitation of The LORD, and unaware of the great work He Is doing on the earth.
As on the road to Emmaus when His disciples didn’t recognize Him as He stood before them, many have not been able to see and recognize the hour we are living in and the significance of current events.
We are in a time when, rather than hiding His identity from His People, He is revealing Himself as never before.
There is a great revealing of Truth for Justice.
Even those of us who think we understand are in for a surprise as The LORD reveals Himself, His Person, as we’ve never known before.
He will reveal Himself to us in ways we have not yet experienced, and we will be awed at the wonder of Who He really IS!
We will realize that much of what we’ve thought about Him has been greatly lacking.
Suddenly our eyes will be opened and we will see the wonder of Him!
He is everything the Word tells us He Is, and more.
He walks among us and we fail to see Him.
He is closer than our very breath, and we miss His Presence.
He is so much more than we even know to ask for! He is altogether Lovely, altogether Good, altogether Just!
I recently had a Vision, where I found myself standing in a dark, cluttered hallway. It was full of stuff – the cares of this life, the problems and worries.
As I stood there, The LORD walked up to the end of the hallway where Light was coming from, and asked me, “What do you want?”
I was immediately overcome with love for The LORD and answered, “I just want You, Lord!” And I ran toward Him.
How many of us are in that dark hallway right now, a place of transition, our road to Emmaus, where The LORD asks us, “What do you want?”
He is asking us to once again choose!
In Him are the answers and solutions to all of life’s cares, the healing for all disease and heartache, provision for all of our needs, and so much more.
We are a Chosen Generation — chosen for this very special time — the time of His Glory!
Most of us know the answer to His question, for to know Him is to love Him, and our destination is so much greater than we think!
As His Story — different but the same — once again unfolds before us, will we look back from our future and ask, “Were not our hearts burning within us?”
Change is hard — oppression harder!
The LORD Is doing a mighty work on the earth to bring us freedom, and we are privileged to be a part of it!
We need only to believe! What a great time to be alive!
Prayer
LORD, we just want You!
Open our eyes to see You, and all You are doing in this appointed hour!
Help us to always choose You first, above all others, and above all things!
Lead us into all that You have for us, and all You would have us do. For our destiny lies in You!
We stand under the covering of Your Blood, and no weapon formed against us will prosper.
We bless You and thank You for loving us enough to die for us, so we can then live through You!
Resurrect us into Kingdom living!
We love You, Lord!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Love,
