Watching The Snow Falling
A psalm to praise and sing to God, out loud.
Watching The Snow Falling
Watching the snow falling
From a sky veiled by fog
While the sun dimly filters through
Oh the snow sings in the chilled air—
The melodies of winter softly descending
Proclaiming Peace indescribable
That can only come from You, LORD
You shower Your Blessings upon the earth…
And it exalts praises of Your Glory…
Honor and Majesty are before Him;
Strength and Beauty are in His Sanctuary
Let the heavens rejoice,
And let the earth be glad….
Let the field be joyful,
And all that is therein:
Then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice!
Now all things are covered
From the trees to the rooftops
Perfectly still they stand
A glorious winter wonderland!
A blanket of white undisturbed
Across the hills to the mountaintops
And all around Your Peace envelops
And time seems to stand still
But O LORD, You are still moving in the earth!
A flock of geese fly overhead
The fog begins to lift
The sun cuts through at last
Every flake fallen sparkles like diamonds
Lone tracks from a deer traverse the open meadow
Black-capped chickadees swoop from tree to tree
Life is stirring awake gradually
All the trees of the wood rejoice
Oh sing to the King of Glory!
He gives snow like wool;
He scatters frost like ashes.
He hurls down His Crystals of Ice like crumbs;
Who can stand before His Cold?
He sends out His Word
And melts them away;
He makes His Wind blow
And the waters flow.
He has set it all in motion by His Knowledge and Power!
Honor and Majesty are before Him;
Strength and Beauty are in His Sanctuary
Let the heavens rejoice,
And let the earth be glad….
Let the field be joyful,
And all that is therein:
Then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice!
Oh LORD, You shower Your Blessings upon the earth
It exalts praises of Your Glory
I join along as I stand here watching the snow falling…
“He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes. He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold? He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.” Psalm 147:16-18 ESV.
“Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.” Psalm 96:6.
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice,” Psalm 96:11-12.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8.
