When Relationships Become Idols!
Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you…” (Matthew 6:33).
This isn’t just about financial provision, it’s God’s Divine Order of Protection for every area of our lives, including our relationships.
When we keep Him first, He aligns us with the right connections and shields us from the wrong ones.
But when we rush ahead, refuse to wait on Him, or trust our feelings over His leading, we step outside that covering. We become a prime target for the enemy to send counterfeits and predators disguised as blessings.
The Truth is, idolatry isn’t always about statues or graven images. Sometimes, the “idol” is a person whom we’ve placed above God in our hearts.
It’s when:
- Their approval matters more than God’s voice.
- Their presence feels more secure than God’s promises.
- We compromise our convictions to keep them happy.
This is why some of us end up entangled with narcissists, abusers, or manipulators, because the hunger for love or affirmation became greater than the hunger for God.
And when we enthrone people where only God should sit, we hand them the keys to our heart… and in doing so, we also hand them access to our peace, our discernment, and our destiny.
Beloved, the safest place you can be is inside God’s Perfect Will.
The relationship God sends will never require you to disobey Him to keep it.
The connection God ordains will never compete with your devotion to Him it will deepen it.
Guard your heart! Seek Him first!
Let no human sit on the throne only He deserves.
Reflection:
Have you given a person the place in your heart only God should hold?
Let every man examine themselves.
