Which Version Father Says? — 13 Comments

  1. Dear Sandi; Shelley; Betty and my dear bro Mark: God bless each and every one of you. Also thank you for the time you took to respond! Good to see you on the ‘comment thread’ here ‘Betty Harmon’!
I thank God for all the years online we worked together in ministry! Also the wonderful Yahweh site and all the people you were able to help and encourage all across the world. Especially your very heart for the persecuted church! Surely no compromise in you!
Not trying just single you out, either. It’s just the day we finally met at my house will forever stay etched in my mind!
An honor ‘General’ to know you.

I love each and every one of you. Let us never divide; but stay in unity!
Let us Watch, pray, and listen to the Fathers heart. ❤

  2. Dear Joyce, (Mark and Shelley)
I am so blessed by the diversity of your comments and as I read them, it came to my mind what a lady spoke to me in a counseling session when I was saying how important it is to hide the word in our heart. She said sometimes in the KJV bible, I don’t really understand the meaning completely so how will it help me to memorize it? I pondered a minute and quietly in my heart said, ‘Lord’? Then I thought wisdom please? I heard Him say, there are many versions of my word and as she puts it in her heart, I will bring the revelation at the right time. Not to ‘split hairs’ over any of the truth you have pointed out, but just was brought to that one thought that sometimes we must realize the one we are speaking to ‘re: which one should we?’ is just not there yet. I use so many versions and particulary like NASB and AMP but for pleasure love to compare with TPT and what I memorized as a child from KJV..and yes, that KJV scripture kept me for a few years when I never wanted to see the “judgemental church” when my husband left me for another woman and I got a divorce…so we never know the “whys” of choice. Love you all, Just wanted to engage with you fabulous friends! Sandi

    • ahhh. Dear Sandi, a loving perspective….
Again it’s so important to have this rich balance of LOVE with Truth, for it is how Father speaks to our hearts, and how Holy Spirit leads us…and what Jesus modelled for us…

      Philippians 2:5
And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.

      Philippians 2:5 AMPC
Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]

      Philippians 2:2 AMPC
Fill up and complete my joy by living in harmony and being of the same mind and one in purpose, having the same love, being in full accord and of one harmonious mind and intention.
      Philippians 2:2 tPt
So I’m asking you, my friends, that you be joined together in perfect unity—with one heart, one passion, and united in one love. Walk together with one harmonious purpose and you will fill my heart with unbounded joy. \\0//

  3. My stand by is the KJV.  SAME for many great men and women of God, that I’ve trusted.  BUT, Now more than ever I try to detect what version they’re referring to, this day, one cannot be too careful.  We have a very deceiving enemy.

I do like the KJV/AMP Classic Edition.

  4. I think any translation has got to be as close as possible to the original Hebrew and Greek.  This would rule out a couple of modern versions which, strictly speaking, are not translations, since they paraphrase and even add concepts not to be found in the original texts.

    • Hi Mark, my brother.
Just to note here the last part of the Word in my book I heard from the Lord was:
“Be careful My daughters, My sons, for it is the age of much deception. Rightly divide it for it will set you free.
Throw the rule book away and live unencumbered from bread from above. My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

We are to surely ‘examine’ the different translations, and not just accept.
E.g. If the blood of Jesus is left out, or Mary being a virgin that changes the gospel. Many years ago I did translation comparisons and saw so many,

(‘not’ saying all was in some serious error) For me I’m just fine and comfortable staying with KJV. Hear my heart please.

Can we just agree to be careful and seek the Lord on this?
Not out of debate but love I felt to write this article. God bless you

      • Dear Mark Roberts
I appreciate your deep integrity in the Word. Thank you for your careful attention to “rightly dividing” the Word, even as you are “loyal to the Faith” and responsive to Holy Spirit.

Thank you again, Mama Joyce for sharing the Lord’s Word with us…
I hear, “Faithful in season and out”…

        2 Timothy 1:13 NKJ
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
        2 Timothy 2:15 NKJ
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

      • Dear Joyce, my intention was only to point out the particular dangers I see in the Message and Passion versions and not to dismiss the general danger of any other version that omits the blood of Jesus and His virgin birth.  As far as I know, the NKJV too cannot be faulted in this respect.

Yes, I agree to seek the Lord in this and am open to learning more.  Blessings in Him, Mark.

  5. MAY HIS WORD SPEAK!!!

    Colossians 3:16-17 (the Passion Translation)
Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom. Apply the Scriptures as you teach and instruct one another with the Psalms, and with festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to you spontaneously by the Spirit, so sing to God with all your hearts!
Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring your constant praise to God the Father because of what Christ has done for you!

    Colossians 3:16-17 AMPC
Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.
And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.

  6. Wow. THAT is a BOLD, HOLY WORD dear Mama Joyce!!!
    you wrote,
“Any version without The Power of God in it is dead.” Believe My Report.

    And yet a needed word….
I am an AMPLIFIED CLASSIC GAL, but have memorized a lot from the KJV as it’s easier!
When “warring in the spirit” it seems that it is the AMPC/ or KJV that I “hear” in my spirit…

However, I love the relational aspect of the Passion Translation. When I am counselling people it is often the translation that I use. It has such a beautiful way of bringing relational meaning to people, drawing us closer to the way that the Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit and Father relate to us…
In the notes of the Passion Translation, Brian Simmons is faithful to provide us with a great deal of context for meaning.

It’s interesting, I can often feel when a Translation is “missing” or a bit off, and Holy Spirit is faithful to provide me with the resources that confirm my understanding of the Word.

    So bottom line…?
May we be RICH IN HIS WORD and HIS LOVE!!!

    • Very interesting Shelley! Thank you always for what you share.
I believe the spirit of God has showed you this. He gives you much discernment to hear His voice.

Even when something sounds off in the spirit to us, He will surely lead and guide. That is throwing the rule book away for sure. I love you precious lady! God bless you.
