You “might” wonder, what Humility is and what does it mean to have “a Spirit of Humility”?

It means when we’re humble, when we’re not focusing on ourselves, our accomplishments, our voice.

Instead, we set aside our pride, pedigrees and preening, trading them for appreciation and gratitude.

In a Biblical sense, we’re able to have humility when it comes to trusting in God and putting our future in his hands.

His ways and plans are higher and better than our own could ever be….

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says The LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts!””   Isaiah 55:8-9.

However, putting our own desires and pride away to humble ourselves can be difficult!

Here are a few practical examples of how to be a humble person in your daily life:

✳️ Showing genuine thanks to God and others.  Being grateful for the smallest of gifts or words spoken in times of stress, need and crisis.

✳️ Keeping an open mind to listening to others.  Hot rebuttals and retorts often expose a person’s tendency to expose pride in their hearts and a lack of mature listening skills.

✳️ Appreciating the little blessings.  Cards from friends, sunsets, children playing, maturing older people sharing histories.

✳️ Accepting fault when we are wrong.  Apologies go a long way towards resolving misspoken words or presuming to know someone else’s feelings or experiences.

✳️ Giving credit to others when due.  Let others shine well.  Be integral in authentic praise.  Be humble and gracious when others are more advanced and skilled than you.

✳️Trusting in God’s Plan even when it might not make sense.

✳️ Showing Love and Patience to others.

✳️ Refraining from showing pride and arrogance.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”    Philippians 2:3-4.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of The LORD, and He shall lift you up….”  James 4:10.
