Do You Carry the Anointing? and How to Use Anointing Oil
Recently I was lying in bed, feeling pretty sick with allergies. They came upon me quick and swiftly, and without any warning.
As I laid there, I felt myself also starting to wheeze with asthma ….. something that I have not had in many years.
As I started to pray, and rebuke these symptoms, I heard clearly a Word from The Holy Spirit: “Anointing….”
Then I heard: “The Anointing will break the yoke!”
I knew exactly what verse The Holy Spirit was referring to ….. however, at the time, I did not see any connection to how ill I was feeling.
I then went right to The Word and looked up that Scripture, in Isaiah 10, which says:
“It shall come to pass in that day
That his BURDEN will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his YOKE from your neck,
And the yoke will be DESTROYED because of the anointing OIL.” Isaiah 10:27.
I knew that this verse refers to a ‘Yoke’ that can be put upon our lives …. which makes us carry burdens, lads, and even sickness that weigh us down.
Much like an Ox, who is placed in servitude and bondage, by carrying a heavy Wooden Bar on its neck.
However, according to the above verse, there is an Aanointing that can break and destroy these yokes or burdena and set us free!
I always thought that this “Anointing” came through someone who was ‘anointed’ ….. like in those Church Services where there are great healings, and the casting out of demons.
Many people are ‘chasing an Anointing’ from other people, thinking that this may be the only way that they can be set free from the bondages that plague them.
However, as I laid on my bed, feeling pretty awful, I started looking up the Biblical meaning of the “Anointing,” from that verse, and found out something I had never seen before in The Old Testament:
Originally, one of the first places that the ‘Anointing’ is mentioned, in The Old Testament, is an anointing with OIL to bring consecration for ministry.
In Exodus 29:20-21;30, it mentions how Aaron and his sons were ‘Anointed’ with two things:
OIL and the BLOOD from a ram
Anointing Oil
This reference to an ‘Anointing Oil,’ is the same usage that we see in the above verse, Isaiah 10:27, about the ‘Anointing that Breaks the Yoke.’
In other words, according to that Scripture, it is the Anointing Oil’ that Breaks the Yoke!
It is used to Consecrate for ministry, and to bring Healing by breaking off the sicknesses and burdens that try to hold people captive.
The actual word, in Hebrew, used for “Anointing” is Strong’s #H8080, which means: Oil, Ointment, Olive Oil.
For me, this was a new revelation on the importance of Consecrated Holy Oil that can ‘Break the Yoke’ from burdens, trials, and tribulations by bring Healing to our lives — especially when it is joined with Faith and Prayer.
We can also see similar principles in the New Testament, when ‘Holy Oil’ is used to break the Yoke od sickness and infirmity:
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, ANOINTING HIM WITH OIL in the name of The LORD:” James 5:14.
However, before even applying Holy Oil, it is important that we have taken to The LORD, first, our burdens, trials, tribuklatuibs in prayer! (Philippians 4:6-7)
As we give Him our prayers and requests, He will then exchange them for His Yoke which is neither burdensome or heavy, but instead is light and esay:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. FOR MY YOKE IS EASY AND MY BURDEN IS LIGHT.” Matthew 11:28-30
A Second Type of Anointing
“But the ANOINTING which you have RECEIVED FROM HIM ABIDES IN YOU, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” 1 John 2:27.
The above verse talks about ‘Another Anointing’ that lives within each born-again believer. This means that we don’t have to look for it …. or chase it down through other people!
While writing this Word, I heard this in my spirit: “Stop chasing the Anointing!”
I believe that The LORD sees many people looking in all the wrong places for this Anointing to come into their lives, but they never seem to find it!
This is because they don’t realize that they already carry and Anointing from The Holy Spirit!
We receive this through the Power of The Holy Spirit, and through the Baptism of The Holy Spirit.
It is not something that is taught or given by others ….. but it is something that is Received from The LORD JESUS. It indwells in us through the dunamis power of the Resurrection of CHRIST.
However, as believers, we must learn how to activate it through Faith, so that it pours out, not only to impact our lives, but to overflow to others!!
Do Not Destroy the Oil or the Wine
There is a little verse in the Book of Revelation that many people have tried to interpret:
“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and DO NOT HARM THE OIL AND THE WINE.” Revelation 6:6.
What is the OIL and the WINE?
While there are many different interpretations, for this discussion, I believe, spiritually speaking, that this could refer to The Anointing — for the ‘OIL’ can represent The Anointing Oil, and the ‘Wine’ can represent The Blood of Jesus.
This is a ‘type’ of, or ‘foreshadow’ of the anointing that we see in Exodus 29, when Aaron was anointed with Oil and the Blood of a ram in order for him to be consecrated and to minster.
So, in spiritual sense, the above verse could possibly mean that the angels, during the end times, are to protect those who carry the anointing!!
Practical Application
After receiving this revelation from The Holy Spirit, and as I laid sick in bed, I now knew what I was suppose to do:
- Anoint myself with Holy Oil that I had already consecrated to The LORD on a previous occasion,
- Activate, through prayer, proclamation, and declaration, the healing necessary over my body with the Anointing that was already dwells inside of me,
- Plead, Sprinkle and Apply The Blood of The Lamb over me
Once I did that, within moments, I started to feel better …. in that the asthma eased up, and I felt my strength return!
I am always eternally grateful for the leading of The Holy Spirit, who reveals to us Truths and guides us on our journey with The LORD.
How to Make Consecrated Oil
Oil Contents:
I am sure that there are many people more knowledgeable about this, than I am …. however, I just want to share what I do, which are taken from the Scriptures:
‘Oil’ in the Bible usually refers to Olive Oil …. which is what I use. I put it in a small tinted glass bottle, as it will last longer.
Then, if you want to go ‘deeper,’ you can add some of the ingredients that they used to consecrate Aaron and his sons:
Myrrh, Sweet Cinnamon, Sweet Cane (a form of Calumus), Calumus, Cassia (form of Cinnamon), Olive Oil.
“Also take for yourself quality spices — five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil. And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil.” Exodus 30:23-25.
Prayer for Consecration
This is the one that I use:
First, I hold up the oil to The LORD, and then dedicate it to The LORD through prayer:
“Dear Father, LORD Jesus and Holy Spirit,
I come into Your Presence today to ask that you would consecrate this Oil with your Power, and The Power of The Holy Spirit.
Activate it with Your Dunamis (power), for Cleansing, Protecting, Deliverance and Healing.
Please Anoint and Activate it for Your use and service in my life and others.
Let this Dunamis Power of The Holy Spirit, come and sanctify, and consecrate this Oil for the purpose of Your Kingdom, and to bring The Anointing that will destroy, and break off the yoke, and burdens, that the enemy has brought into my life and others.
Please let The Power of The Blood of Jesus also come over this Oil, as I proclaim and declare it over all that it is applied to.
I Ask, Proclaim and Declare by Faith, that this Oil is now to become ‘Holy Anointing Oil,’ and to be used in the service of my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I ask all of this now, in Faith, and in the powerful and mighty name Jesus Christ and through His Blood and Righteousness alone.
Thank You Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit! I Praise and Worship Your Holy Name, for You are worthy of all Praise, Honor and Glory!
Amen and Amen!!”
How to Apply
Anoint Yourself or Another Person:
- I usually anoint myself before or after I engage in spiritual warfare prayers.
- I anoint the top of head, the bottom of feet, and the palms of my hands.
- If I am going to speak for The LORD, I will anoint my lips.
- If I am sick, I will anoint the place of sickness.
- If you are married, you can do it together as a couple which can be very powerful and effective!
Prayer Over Yourself or Loved One:
“In the powerful Name of Jesus Christ, I anoint (name) _________ with this consecrated, sanctified Oil for Protection, Deliverance and Cleansing from The Holy Spirit and through The Blood of Jesus.
From the top of (name) _________‘s head to the bottom of (name) _________’s feet, and everything in between be covered now by the power of The Holy Spirit and The Blood of Jesus.”
Prayer for Healing:
“Dear Father, LORD Jesus and Holy Spirit, we claim James 4:15-16, that says if any are sick, then we can anoint with oil for healing.
So, today, we take this consecrated anointing oil and apply it to _________, and by Faith, we believe that you will bring your healing power upon it.
Thank you, Jesus, that You are the great physician, and by Your Wounds and Blood we are healed!”
