You are Seen… You are Heard… You are Loved
The LORD showed me this on July 15th.
It’s metaphorical. It’s not just about spending too much, but about our Fellowship with The LORD.
But He hasn’t asked me to give you an interpretation, so I trust it is self-explanatory or Spirit-revealed for those people to whom He is speaking.
I see a husband and wife in the middle of a confrontation.
The wife has been spending money, but when she receives the bills and invoices, she has been squirreling them in the back of a cupboard and forgetting to pay them.
Now the husband has found them, and the wife is standing in front of him. She is trying not to look like a guilty child, and so she has a defiant expression on her face, but she is secretly wishing the ground would open up and swallow her.
“Don’t get worked up and angry,” she says, almost nonchalantly.
“I’m not angry,” He says in surprise. “I’m just sad that you’ve been trying to bear so much trouble by yourself. It’s almost as though you forget I’m here for you.”
The unexpected kindness of His response makes her defiant façade crack. Suddenly her brave front crumbles and she starts crying, hiding her face in her hands.
“I’m so sorry,” she mumbles. “I just can’t keep track of it all any more. I can’t cope, so I put it away until later, and then I forget and it piles up.”
“It’s all right,” He says quietly. “You don’t have to keep track of it all. It’s really all right.”
She carries on. “I can’t seem to stop myself. It’s getting too much for me. I keep meaning to sort it all out but every time I try I can’t quite get to grips with it.”
“Why have you been wasting so much time and energy worrying about this?” He asks.
“You know you don’t have to sort this out alone. That’s why you have Me. So we can sort it out together. So we can face life together. Isn’t that what we promised each other? Isn’t that what our covenant is?”
“I’m sorry,” she says again. “I wanted to sort this out before, before…” she falters.
He finishes her sentence. “Before I found out?”
She is ashamed and horrified that He has so clearly understood her fear and reluctance.
He is deeply hurt, but He stays calm and softly asks a question without judging her. “But you know you can’t hide this from Me. So why didn’t you want Me to find out?”
“I don’t really know,” she cries, though inside her heart of hearts she actually does know.
So does He. He reaches out His hands to her hands that were covering her tear-stained face, and He gently takes them and kisses them.
“You don’t have to be afraid of Me. You never need to be afraid of Me. I’m not going to hurt you. I am never disappointed in you. There is nothing you could do that will make Me love you less. There is nothing you can do that will make Me love you more.”
He holds out His arms and she sort of flops onto Him and sobs uncontrollably. Full on, unrestrained, shameless, “ugly crying”.
It’s such a relief now it’s all in the open. The spending, the bills, even her fear of Him. Her continuing fear of being seen and rejected.
He knows it all. He has seen her at her worst and He still loves her.
She is seen. She is heard. She is loved.
He holds her tightly and kisses the top of her head, even as she is still sobbing, even as they both know her sinuses are draining onto His clothes. And neither of them care.
“Cry all you need to,” He whispers.
“I’m not going anywhere. When you’re ready, we will sit down together and go through everything and deal with it. I promise you that together we will make this all better.”
“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2.
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:7-10.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
“Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honour him, for he is your Lord.” Psalm 45:11.
“My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding-places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” Song of Songs 2:14.
