Feminism Verses Biblical Equality — 8 Comments

  1. God, the Creator of all being, created the (hu)man — for that is what “Adam” means, not “male.” He created humanity in a unique way as male and female, as an image of equal worth (“an image that resembles us,” Genesis 1:26). In God’s eyes, men and women are of equal value. We know today that an embryo in the womb is gender-neutral until the seventh week. All sexual characteristics are present — both male and female; only after this stage is it determined which sex will dominate. This is also the reason why men have nipples. What purpose could they possibly serve? Hormones determine the extent to which a person is male or female. It is outrageous that, even in Christian circles in the 21st century AD, there is still talk of the subordination of women to men, citing patriarchal notions from millennia past and handed-down stories from the Torah. How can anyone today seriously believe that God created man first and woman afterwards? Dear friends, these are ancient stories! Think about it. Throughout history and to this very day, women and girls have been — and continue to be — abused, mistreated, raped, abducted, kidnapped, enslaved, bought and sold, forced into prostitution and marriage, despised, and hated. Girls have been —and still are— aborted or abandoned after birth solely because of their gender. Their genitals are mutilated; they are excluded from education—indeed, from life itself. I see weeping, desperate women asking: “Why do we live? Why must we be here?” Where are the men who, according to God’s plan, ought to ensure protection and justice? The reason Paul calls upon men to love their wives is their incapacity for love. It was always the women who truly loved.

    • I have to wonder about if you were hurt by a man. Don’t let that experience skew your thoughts upon all men. From my own experience I had a dad who had two accidents involving head trauma. One was when he was in the navy and their reconnaissance boat was attacked in Vietnam. Second time he was hit by a drunk driver and expelled from the car onto the pavement. I suffered physical abuse growing up but I cannot blame all of it on him. I forgive him. I have been blessed to be married to my husband over 36 years. We have a good relationship because God is a part of it. I don’t see how people manage life without Him. We have different roles but we honor each other in them. The world is getting increasingly violent and sin abounds everywhere. We need to abide in Jesus during these difficult times. Don’t be discouraged, look up. Our redemption nears.

      • It is neither about me nor about you. My advice and my heartfelt request: simply read what is written and listen to what is being said, without interpreting it. May you have open eyes and ears, as well as an understanding heart. Be blessed!

        • I don’t fully understand Genesis as there are two creation accounts. (Genesis 1 and 2). Genesis 1 it’s Elohim plural. Genesis 2 is Jehovah. Genesis 1 both man and woman were created on the 6th day. Genesis 2 Jehovah took a rib from Adam and created Eve.  I think God is perfect in all He does. I think humanity without Him is broken and sin abounds. Men who don’t love their wives as Christ loved the church. Loving them like he loves and cares for himself.

I’m unsure of what you are trying to infer regarding my interpretation. In reference to your own experience as a contributing factor to your belief or in reference to the creation stories in Genesis?

          • The creation stories are narratives and not factual accounts; therefore, they should not be taken literally. Like many other texts in the Bible, they are characterized by imagery and symbolism. These stories stem from oral traditions dating back millennia and reflect how the people of the ancient orient explained the world to themselves. As with the parables of Jesus in the New Testament, the aim here is always to grasp the underlying meaning; indeed, the Revelation of John, too, cannot be understood if taken literally.

            • Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
