Can God Use Me? — 3 Comments

  1. You are a blessing, Chris.  It is wonderful to hear your story.  Thank you so much for sharing.  I love to hear people’s stories.  People matter.

  2. Hi Monica

    Thanks for your response.
As I read it, the Lord said to me, “Tell people a bit of your story!” Well, I’m nothing if not obedient so, very briefly, here we go.

I was born and bred in London, capital of England. We were a relatively poor family, Dad was a bus driver and driving instructor. Nobody went to church except my uncle who was an Open Brethren preacher. I came to the Lord at 19 and promptly ran away from him for almost 30 years until I came to the baptism of Holy Spirit in 1990. God never abandoned me but patiently chased me until I surrendered. I was called to prophesy in 1995 and sat under my prophet mentor for 15 years before being released into ministry.

The point I haven’t told you is that I am what I am today without any qualifications, formal training or teaching whatsoever.
I left school at 16 as we couldn’t afford any further education. I went to work, first in a bank, then for a large computer manufacturer!
I didn’t do college or university.
I didn’t do Bible College or seminary.
I learned everything I know sitting at the feet of Holy Spirit and from experience gained through trial and error while travelling and ministering.
God used me, and still uses me, rough edges and all, in His service.

“ For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for
disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
In those days when you pray, I will listen.
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
I will be found by you,” says the Lord.
    Jeremiah 29:11-14a

Yes, God can use anyone, even me – and you!

  3. Thank you so much for this encouraging word, Chris.

I’m sure many of us feel disqualified because we don’t measure up to the prominent, popular ‘voices’ of our times.  Most come with a keen mind, educational qualifications and Bible College credentials.  But hey, ‘All that glitters is not gold.’ Jeremiah 29:11 is the most precious to me of God’s promises.  It’s what stopped me from committing suicide!  I believed that if God could open Balaam’s donkey’s mouth to speak through it, then He could do the same for me.  I’ve had a six year old (a stranger) confront me on the street, asking if I loved the Lord, which was straight after I told Him I wasn’t going to pray!

If you truly seek after the Truth, God WILL find you and use you.  He keeps His promises. ❤️
