Heart to Heart with Jesus
Good evening, my friends, I know I talk about the heart a lot, but The LORD continues to tell me ‘it all begins in the Heart’ and ‘it is all about the Heart‘ — and today I ran across a quotation I would like to share with you:
“ What the Heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose.”
— Henry Ward Breecher
Won’t you just pause and think about that?
Lately, The LORD has been speaking to me about things that immediately come to my mind when I am hurt by someone or nothing is going ‘my way’ or shall we say, many unexpected moments that the enemy sends to draw us into disagreements or strife.
I have one memory when I was very young that changed my heart forever and it is the first thing that comes into my mind when the enemy begins to attack me.
I sought The LORD about this today and He said, “The depth of that memory is written on your heart because it was full of innocence and brought healing to your tumultuous childhood with bad memories of your father’s drinking and trying to beat the door down to get to your mother when they were separated and then divorced.
The depth of those actions developed a deep fear of men in your heart at an early age.”
The LORD in His Goodness created a memory that I owned and shall never lose because it healed my fear of men.
His Goodness brought great Gratitude and taught me that the Good will outweigh the bad.
As I pondered that Truth, The LORD brought to my attention another quote that I feel to share with you as well as I take a look at Keeping Our Heart and the issues of life that come to us as we endeavor to keep our heart and obey the Word.
“When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart and you shall see that in truth, you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”
— Kahlil Gibran
As we think on these revelatory quotes, it truly confirms our need to Keep Our Heart with diligence.
As I was pondering these thoughts today, I laughed out loud and said to The LORD, “I remember when I was a little girl, when I wanted my Mother or Nana to believe me, I would say, ‘Cross my heart and hope to die’.”
As I pondered this, I did some research and this is what I found.
Origin and Meaning
- Religious Roots:
“Cross my heart” refers to making the sign of the cross (a blessing gesture) over your heart, swearing on God.
- Pledge of Death:
“Hope to die” signifies that if you lie, you accept death as punishment, a serious oath for the devout.
- Evolution:
Over time, especially among children, the serious oath became a game, adding hyperbolic verses like “stick a needle in my eye” to make it even more dramatic and fun.
I hear The LORD speaking to me, “My Daughter, it is important to know what you are saying and realize the weight that your words carry.”
Recently, as I sat with The LORD, as I have shared not long ago, He said to me, “Check your heart and ask me to show you your heart.
You cannot change what has happened that you regret so choose to be grateful for what you had and what you learned so that you have a heart of Thanksgiving as you move forward in life instead of Regret for what you cannot change.
When you choose to remember the Good things with a thankful heart, the regret will have no more place to keep you living in the past.”
I love a quote from Derek Prince posted on a picture from Derek Prince Ministries.
Guard it with all your strength.
Don’t let any evil in.”
Lately in Intercession, The LORD showed me so many situations where many Christians and Non-Christians alike are not able to move forward, because they are stuck in their past.
I prayed that The LORD would send someone whom they would listen to and only He knows who that would be.
He then spoke softly to me, “My Daughter, the hour is late and it is time for True Change to take place in those who are double-minded or undecided.
Many are stuck in yesterday’s pain and do not have hope for tomorrow.
Pray for a true desire for heart deliverance to come quickly to those who are stuck in their emotions and allowing their flesh to lead them.
Speak to their spirit man to ARISE — for I desire to lead them out of darkness into the Light!” says The Father God.

Wow Sandi I used to say all these things as a kid and another one don’t step on a crack your break your mothers back…WOW and after I read this I renounced every stupid rhyme I did as a kid and repented, it’s just unreal your so naive as a child. Heart to Heart, His Heart to my Heart and all the time when I pray I say show me my heart I want my heart to be like Yours LORD. Hugs Pamie
Yes, Pamie, my dear friend, so sadly true that our childhood habits are so lodged in our heart sometimes that we don’t even realize ‘we learned what we lived’. Many times I have to pause and think about that especially with Gerry’s childhood of not being wanted and being rejected by his Mom in so many ways which brings up my other favorite truth that I think of nearly every day in the controlling world we live in: ‘Self will never crucify self because self is always on self’s side’…so very sad but so very true. The Holy Spirit must be so very grieved in this hour of such mixture even in His church. Hugs coming back to you In His everlasting love, Sandi as we stand firm following the Holy Spirit’s lead.
What a wonderful word! I am so grateful for you and I’m glad you’re back. God bless you.
I am so grateful, dear Kathryn for your kind words of gratitude. May the wonder of His words to us keep you all the days of your life as you dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I receive your sweet blessing with a humble heart that only He can give. May your have a very Merry Christmas as we focus on the reason for the season with great joy! In His everlasting love, Sandi
