I Will Be Satisfied When I Awake With Thy Likeness
I Will Be Satisfied When I Awake With Thy Likeness
by Guest Author: Julia Chandler
“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” Psalm 17:15.
When God spoke to Samuel and told him to go and anoint David to be King in place of Saul, He also told Samuel that..
“Men look upon the outward appearance, but The LORD looketh upon the heart! “ 1 Samuel 16:7.
So we see through God’s Word, that when God is looking to anoint, that many are called, but few are chosen, and when He chooses to anoint, He looks upon the heart!
It is not our credentials, nor our degrees, that qualifies us in the eye’s of God to have a greater anointing, for the word of Gods tells us this….
“The eyes of The LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself STRONG on the behalf of those whose heart is “PERFECT” towards Him. ” 2 Chronicles 16:9.
Man often chooses because of outward appearance, but when God chooses, He looks upon the heart.
When David was called by God to go forth to slay the giant, he had the right motives for doing it.
First of all, we see that David went out to the front lines of the battle field in obedience to his father. It was his father who called him to come from the back field of servanthood, and take food to his brothers, who were attempting to fight on the front lines.
( Those on the front lines trying to fight the enemy need the right food and example sent from The Father to fight. (1 Samuel 17:17) )
Motives and Rewards
Now, after David arrived at the front lines, equipped with an anointing from God, and the food which his father instructed him to give to his brothers; the brothers began to tell David about all the perks and the rewards that would be given to the one who would slay the giant.
On hearing all this, David was disappointed that his brothers’ motives for serving in this army and trying to defeat the enemy, were for the wrong reward.
David saw that his brothers were truly seeking first to ‘line their own pockets’ and promote their own kingdoms, when they should have been wanting to promote God’s Kingdom and set the captives free.
No wonder they had no power over the enemy!
So, after David’s brothers told him about the rewards that would be given to the one who would slay the giant, David replied back to them and said this….
“What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” 1 Samuel 17:26.
The Cause?
David went on to make a very important point by asking this…. “Is not there a cause?”
In asking this David was rebuking his brothers and trying to let them know, “It’s not about the reward! It’s about the cause!” (1 Samuel 17:25-29)
We see that David’s motive to slay the giant was for a cause, and not a reward.
That is why God empowered David to defeat the enemy!
This uncircumcised Philistine, Goliath was bringing reproach to Israel, oppressing David’s brothers, and mocking the God Whom they served, and that greatly angered David, and that was the cause he was stirred up about — and willing to fight for!
The Rebuke!
I believe the rebuke David gave to his brothers is the “true” message and food that David’s heavenly Father sent him to the battle field with!
David was conveying to them by word and by example, that their true cause should be to bring glory back to God’s Name, by fighting against the Philistines who were mocking the power of God and oppressing God’s People.
This should have been their cause and motive, and it should be ours as well! Our cause for enlisting in God’s Army is not for an earthly reward from men, but seeking first to promote God’s Kingdom instead of our own.
After seeing David’s words seemed to be a rebuke to them, his brothers began to try and find fault in him.
The reason David’s brothers didn’t have the “true” anointing from God with the Power and Authority from God over the enemy, was because of what was in their hearts — and their motives!
The evil spirits said to those trying to defeat them and cast them out, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you? “(Acts 19:15-17)
The demons fear you having a “pure” heart and a “true ” Anointing, and that is why the enemy tries to send pride and division; to cause a root of bitterness to spring up to defile us!
The Reason?
The reason David was anointed was to Set at Liberty those the enemy had been bruising, and to glorify God’s Name.
Jesus said that was why He was anointed! (Luke 4:18)
- Have you forgotten why God has anointed you?
- Have you left your first love?
The Wrong Armor!
When David defeated the enemy, he didn’t wear the armor that Saul was using to win the battle. That was the wrong armor!
Saul’s breastplate was not the breastplate of righteousness.
Have people tried to get you to put on the wrong armor, as Saul tried with David?
I am talking about wrong breastplates, of pride, bitterness, and division, the breastplates of fighting your own brethren, and seeking one’s own kingdom, and the breastplates that many wear of competition, and jealousy. All that was what was in Saul’s armor.
But the armor David defeated the enemy with was not Saul’s, instead David put on The Armor of God…. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
The Armor of God
David had on “The Helmet of Salvation”,
He knew God was his Deliverer and Protector. That was his mind set.
He had “The Shield of Faith” in God, and “The Breastplate of Righteousness” that was seen in the right motives that he wore, and this protected his heart.
David used “The Sword of The Spirit” — The Word of God — to defeat the enemy, and “His loins were Girded with Truth”, for He told the giant this:
“You come to me with a sword and a spear, and a shield, but I come to you in “The Name of The LORD of Hosts”, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou has defied this day , and The LORD will deliver thee into my hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; and ” all ” the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” 1 Samuel 17:45-47.
The Gospel of Pearce
Now after David defeated the giant, he did not immediately go after following Saul as his brothers did, he went back to tending his Fathers sheep.
When David did go to help Saul, it was then that Saul became jealous of him and wanted to kill him, for he thought David to be a threat to his kingdom, yet when David had the opportunity to kill Saul, he would not do it!
David had “The Gospel of Peace” on his feet as part of his Armor.
David revered and feared God and said, “I will not touch God’s anointed. ” (1 Samuel 26:9)
Hate you without a cause
Have you ever had a Minister who had once been anointed by God, be angry at you, and hate you without a cause?
In their mind they think you have come to take from them, when your true intentions are only that you are trying to help and feed them.
Then the next thing you know, they begin to persecute you and speak evil against you, as Saul did to David?
Then you like Jesus, David and Joseph, forgave them and did not render evil for evil; when they railed against you.
You didn’t rail back, or speak negative about them to any one; instead you turned the other cheek and began praying for them; you even guarded their reputations.
You blessed those who persecuted you and prayed for those who despitefully mistreated you?
Pursue Peace
The LORD says, “Pursue Peace!” (Hebrews 12:14 — like David did ) then “Vengeance is mine!“ (Deuteronomy 32:35,Romans 12:17-19 ) and as God chose the army of Gideon because of their behavior, so God will choose The Bride of Christ.
Many are Called
Many are called to reign and rule like David, and to be kings and priests. Many are called to ride with Jesus, the King of kings and LORD of Lord’s, in His Army of white — but few will be chosen. (Matthew 22:14)
Many are called to The Marriage Supper of The Lamb, but to some the door will be shut, many will say didn’t we do this and that in your name — and The LORD will say to many, “I know you not, you doers of iniquity!” (Matthew 25:10,7:23)
Love and Forgiveness
When Saul realized that David would not render evil for evil to him, when David could have killed him in that cave but he didn’t (1 Samuel 24:7-10) Saul wept and said to David,
“Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil. And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when The LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killed me not. For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore The LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day. And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.” 1 Samuel 24:17-20.
God sees the acts of love and the forgiveness we give to others; He sees our self-denial and obedience to Him.
God has written it in His book, and as the King did in the book of Esther, when he read what Mordecai did to protect him and his kingdom; the King wanted to bless and honor Mordecai for it; and so does King Jesus and His Father, they too will honor and reward those who walk uprightly. (Esther 6:1-3)
The King honored Mordecai by placing upon him the King’s Royal apparel to wear, he even gave him a royal horse to ride on and a royal crown.
This is what King Jesus will do for His Bride. Thus shall it be done to the ones that King Jesus delighteth to honor!
This is a picture of The Bride of Christ — they will be honored by the King to ride on a horse along with Him, and also given a royal crown, and given a royal robe of righteousness and fine linen. (Revelation 19:-8).
Bless and Honor
God wants to bless and honor those that have been faithful to Him and keep His commands, and obey Him, those who do His will.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, not just in heaven, but they will see His hand moving in and upon and through their lives on this earth.
The Bible says, “Blessed are you IF you have a part in the first resurrection,” (Revelation 20:6) but not all will reign and rule with Christ, as we see in Matthew 25:20-21.
This is one of the signs Jesus gave us of what the last days will be like… “Half who claim to be the Bride of Christ will have no oil and light in them, and the door will be shut to them. ” (Matthew 25:1-13)
The Obedient Heart
You see, when God chooses to anoint today, God still looks upon the obedient heart as with David, Joseph and with Esther.
These are those who were “not ” seeking the earthly kingdoms of men, but laid down those kingdoms, so that they could set the captives free, they are those who hungered and thirsted for righteousness.
“All ” three of these Warriors for God were given Royal positions, or seats, all were allowed to reign and rule and given positions of authority from God. Saul was called, but David was chosen.
A lost Anointing
Years ago I heard a man of God say, that he had been in the middle of a ‘Church division’, and in the middle of gossip and fighting. Then, when he got up to preach — he felt no anointing!
He then said, “Right then, as he stood behind the pulpit, with all these people sitting there waiting for him to preach, he walked away from the pulpit and went out in the foyer area and prayed, and as he was praying, God spoke to him and let him know that the anointing had left, because of his resentment and gossip.
So this preacher immediately repented and asked God to forgive him, after that He then walked back in the sanctuary, and got back up behind the pulpit and began to preach.
He then shared that after repenting, “I preached that day under one of the greatest anointings I believe that I had ever felt!”
My Root of Bitterness
Many years ago, I had this root of bitterness in my heart towards this sister in The LORD.
Some may of thought I was pretty clear with God, because I was never was rude back to her. Some may think I was pretty clear with God because I never shared with anyone what she did to offend me.
You may think I was pretty clear with God because I smiled at her when she passed me in Church!
But let me tell you — I am pressing on beyond that to perfection, and have not yet attained it, but I press on to the prize!
The problem was, even though I smiled and pretended that I loved everybody, I still had resentment in my heart towards that woman.
I had a critical judgmental spirit and the only one who was hearing my complaints about her — was God.
I kept telling God in prayer, how rude this woman was, and I had let a root of bitterness spring up within my heart.
With all my outward smiles, the inside of the cup was unclean.
So let me tell you about how it hindered my close communion and fellowship with God and how my prayers were hindered.
So, after having such resentment, and unforgiveness in my heart towards this woman and after me saying to God in prayer over and over through the week ……. ” LORD, I can’t believe how rude she is!”
That very same week I ended up in a person’s home. They were very sick, but when I tried to pray for their healing, I could no longer feel God’s Presence or Power flowing through my right hand as I usually did to heal people!
I also did not feel that close communion and abiding with The LORD.
I felt like there was a wall between me and God, and my prayers were bouncing right back.
So I stopped right then, and prayed in my heart to God and asked him, “What is wrong LORD? Where did you go?”
The LORD spoke back to me and said, “It is because of the unforgiveness and resentment and criticism in your heart towards the woman at Church — and because of pride, that the close fellowship and oneness we had, has been broken!”
The LORD said, “Abide in Me AND My Words ( then ) I will abide in you!”
Oh! you see, I had “grieved ” The Holy Spirit and had broken fellowship with Him.
I was no longer abiding in oneness and unity with Him, and the “FULLNESS ” of the measure of God’s spirit, because. “I was not abiding in Love!” (Ref. John 17)
I felt like David did when he prayed, “Create in me a clean heart, Oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within me, cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy “Holy Spirit ” from me, restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and ” Renew a Right ” spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10-13)
Let me tell you right then, I repented, and asked God to forgive me of this unforgiveness and resentment and a prideful heart.
I then asked God to help me get the bitterness and pride out, and to come with His power and fill me with His unconditional love again, (His perfect love is without offense) and I also prayed for Him to anoint me a fresh, and a new.
The “Moment ” I prayed that prayer and repented to God, the power of God “instantly ” returned into my hand and flowed through me and healed a suffering man… (Mark 11:24-26)
Oh! If our righteousness does not “exceed ” that of the Scribes and Pharisees, we shall in “no case ” enter the kingdom of Heaven (coming in and through our lives on earth as it is in heaven in “Great ” power.).
A Voice in The Wilderness
I will now give you a very true and powerful quote from a man of God I knew, who in His nineties, went home to heaven to be with Jesus………….
This is a quote from Brother Loran Helm‘s book titled, “A Voice in The Wilderness”
“Many who do not know Jesus could possibly be lost “because ” we in the Church did not “Press ” on in the kingdom to “Heart Cleansing “, to the “Oneness ” for which Jesus prayed nearly two thousand years ago and because we failed to “arrive in The Kingdom where we were needed, the Power of God was not able to flow through The Body” and draw sinners to Jesus.
The Power of God is able to work through any Body of Believers in proportion to their wholehearted Obedience, their complete Surrender, and their entire Sanctification“……
End of quote by Rev. Loran Helm.

Amen Sister! This is a true Speaking from God!
The richness of truth in this Word is so powerful. The Lord greatest desire is that His children walk in truth. Anything outside of truth is a dead fly putrefying the ointment. Pride and sugar coating the gospel , offering salvation without repentance, all dishonor the sacrifice of JESUS shed blood and quench the Holy Spirit. Having bewitched many and lulled them into slumber, leaving them woke and no room for repentance. Yet, they cry grace, peace and safety and know not that they are naked and undone and have not known and embraced The Father, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit that would lead and guide them into all truth.
Amen!!!
