Plagues & Pestilences:
Is God Trying To Tell Us Something?

 

Recently there’s news about flooding in the Midwest and blizzards in the southern states as well as hail coming into places like Texas.

There are weather phenomena which are not common in the places in which they now occur.

And then there are earthquakes, volcanic activities, water spouts, dust devils and fire devils happening around the world in places they are not likely to happen.

Water spouts don’t occur in Malaysia very much.  That’s unheard of according to the locals — and then tornadoes in places like Mexico are very rare.

So what is going on?  Is God trying to tell us something?

I looked at the news from time to time to see these things and wondered sometimes about what do they all mean.  And then I was reminded of the Biblical account of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:9-21,

“And the word of the LORD came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 

¹⁰ He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword.  I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 

¹¹ The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” 

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind.  After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. ¹² After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. ¹³ When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

¹⁴ He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty.  The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword.  I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 

¹⁵ The LORD said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. ¹⁶ Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. ¹⁷ Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. ¹⁸ Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel — all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.” 

¹⁹ So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat.  He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair.  Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. ²⁰ Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,” he said, “and then I will come with you.” 

“Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

²¹ So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.”

So let’s break down for a bit…

If you back up at the beginning of the chapter, you’d find that Elijah was threatened by Jezebel, and this incident occurred after Elijah had asked the LORD to burn up the bull that has been drenched with water.

The prophets of Baal had failed to fulfill what they boasted Baal could do.

So interestingly enough, right after Elijah had put to death numerous false prophets of Baal, he ran for his life because of the threat of Jezebel.

Then he got into so much despair that he walked for days in the wilderness and then he fell asleep under a broom tree, when God woke him up and fed him.

Then he walked forty days and forty nights (sound familiar?) before he went to the mountain of God and spent the night in a cave.

Then God asked him what he was doing there in the cave and in the wilderness. Elijah replied Him with a deplorable answer.  He replied,

“I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

Then God told him to go out and stand on the mountain in His presence, because He is about to pass by.

Here the passage did not say that Elijah stood on the mountain at that point, but that the mountain was torn apart by the wind and rocks were shattered, an earthquake occurred and then a fire happened.

In all of these things the LORD was not in these things, but when a gentle whisper came, Elijah got out of the cave.

So this passage in 1 Kings 19 is giving an example of what happens when the prophets of God do not do their jobs (Recall Jonah?).

When Elijah ran away from his call, God sent calamities to get their attention so they may continue to surrender themselves to God, until they started to hear His gentle whisper.

But if God sent only the gentle whisper, Elijah would not have been stirred to go, because there was not an urgency to go after his prophetic call, without the “Hey, Hello, Yoohoo, yeah you, Elijah, yes you!” from God, because then he’d think he thought he heard it from God…. but maybe not.

Sometimes God uses many different things, even our circumstances, to bring to our attention of His Call for us.

So God was calling Elijah out to do his prophetic work for God (God does not need Elijah. But He chose Elijah just as He pleases).  And God used calamities in this account of the Bible to tell Elijah that He wants Elijah to finish that work.

Therefore, if God has done this before, He could be doing it today.

It is not the only reason for calamities, but one of the reasons for calamities and natural disasters.

Therefore, what is the LORD trying to say here?

Here is what the LORD says:

“I AM calling My Children to whom I have given the Elijah mantles,** to rise up and take up their mantles as prophets and messengers for My Name and raise MY NAME – YHWH NISSI as their banners.

They shall do mighty things in the Name of My Son according to John 14:12 — Jesus Christ — Yeshua HaMeshiach so they may testify to the truth of the grace of Jesus Christ.

To those who have twisted understanding of grace shall find the message of Jesus legalistic due to their libertine lifestyles.  And to those who never understood grace shall find the grace provided by My Son too low for their tastes.

But those who love My Son and abide in Him and His Word — the Word of God shall be saved for they are chosen to be forever with My Son.

My prophets will rise and so will the prophets who belong to the devil.  You must test the spirits and remain in the ways of the LORD.

Remember one thing: If a house divides against itself, how can it stand?

If a prophet encourages you to read the Word of God, how will it benefit the devil?

If a prophet encourages you to go and just not be afraid with speaking truth to the point you falsely account others, how will the Kingdom of God benefit?

Consider the teachings of the prophets.  Be as innocent as doves and wise as wolves in the matter.

If you find that the prophets use the Word of God and you are still skeptical, test the spirits according to John 4:1-6.  If even after this you are still unsure consider the fruits of their teachings according to Galatians 5:22-23.

What is the outcome?

If their teachings defeats the work of the devil through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Blood of the Lamb, would that not be indicators that the prophets’ specific teaching to be from ME?

But if the teachings of the prophets and teachers who come to you by My Name and give you teachings that encourage you to be lazy, greedy, covetous, worshiping and chasing miracles and prophecies more than the Creator, gossiping, slandering, and other ways of the wicked and those who indulge in godlessness and ungodliness, would you not agree that these prophets belong to the enemy?

Those of you who belong to ME and My Son.  I love you and I will always love you.

Focus on ME.  BE STILL FOR I AM GOD AND I AM THE LIVING GOD.

Listen to My Voice closely and obey ME not so you would not remain saved, but so you would obey ME as a son obeys a Father.

My Son gave you eternal life.  Eternal life means forever.  If it could be revoked, it would not be called eternal life wouldn’t it?

A good son or daughter understands that at home when the family is around, they can be as casual and as loving as a parent and child can be.

A good son or daughter also understands, that when guests come around, or if the son or daughter works with their father in a company with other employees and other stakeholders they have to revere their father in a different way than when they are at home.

In the same way, I love My children the same way and I desire intimacy and closeness with them.

However, My children need to understand that My strong and convicting words are for those who are still lagging behind considering the lateness of the hour, and those who are Mine and are walking humbly with Me must understand that because I love My children so much I must chastise some, and if they have shut me out from their one on one intimacy, I, the LORD, can only speak through them through public spaces such as this one and so the ones who are mature in their walk with ME shall remember to remind and provide wise counsel to those who are weaker and immature in their faith for the time is short.

Those who are and will be equipped with the Elijah mantles will be many, and they are not the same with the Two Witnesses, as I, the LORD, am going to pour out My Spirit in the last days as have been prophesied in Joel 2:28 and fulfilled in Acts 2:15 and is continuing to be fulfilled today, will put in a greater measure of anointing and power upon My prophets who will wear the Elijah mantle according to 1 Kings 19:19.

Those who prophesy with the Elijah Mantle will do so in My Name and the Name of My Son.

Note that in Matthew 7:15-29 My Son specifically said that not only that they have to produce good fruit, if they prophesy, preach and do miracles, they have to do these things in the Name of My Son, but also that they have to do My will as well.

Therefore, abide in My Son for without Him you can do nothing according to John 15:1-17.

Apart from Him you may believe you know and you can discern, but this is further from the truth.  If you do not know My Son — the Word of God — you will not know His truth.

But if you know Him — the Word of God — you’ will be able to discern and become like one who has built a house on a strong foundation.

I desire My children to be like that, for I desire My children to acquire as much spiritual wealth as My Son’s righteousness and sacrifice has afforded them in the awakening of the redemption being inputted on them.

All of these are gifts, and as you grow as My children, you will receive gifts (material, spiritual, character, wisdom, etc.) from ME simply because you are My children and for no other reason.

Do you not give gifts to your children for their birthdays simply because they are your children?

But if you have a child who runs away from you for drug addiction and has to be taken to rehab, would you not still love your child, though now your relationship to him or her is disrupted?

Therefore would I, the LORD, whom you worship as the ‘Good Good Father’ reserve My chastising arm to those who live as if My Son had not saved them?

Also, as I have reminded you before, I the LORD your God, the LIVING GOD, will send My Son for the Second Coming very soon.  It is imminent.

Be ready. If you know and love My Son, rejoice because He is going to restore everything and make all things new as promised in Revelation 21:5.

If you have loved ones who do not know My Son, remind them of Him and urge them to get ready.  If you yourself do not love ME or My Son, realize that it is not you who seek ME, but I have called you to seek ME for I long for you to be Mine.

Realize that if you believe in My Son in your heart and confess with your mouth that He is LORD, you will be saved according to Romans 10:9-10.

Surrender yourself to ME and follow My Son — JESUS CHRIST — For Him and I (the Father) are one as My Son has already uttered with His Lips in John 10:30.

Finally rejoice, because for those of you who are Mine are at the last leg of your race.

The time of the End is coming and you will all have a new life and a new reality.  There will be no more sorrow, no more pain and no more suffering as My Son has promised through the Apostle John in Revelation 21:4.

Hope will no longer be just hope but a true reality.  A reality that nothing has the power to bring about except for the Blood of My Son — the Lamb of God, the One Who Was Slain, the Prince of Peace, the Word of God, the Lion of Judah, and the King of kings and the LORD of Lords — who is JESUS CHRIST — Yeshua HaMeshiach.”

**Note:   When I say Elijah mantles, I did not mean Elijah’s spirit or the Elijah himself.  According to 1 Kings 19:19 Elisha got the mantle of Elijah and had a successful prophetic ministry.

In the same way, today’s prophets with the mantles of Elijah must be patient and obedient to the LORD — the Father and not be deluded or succumb to the enemy’s lies.

Some of you who are in isolation with too many closed doors maybe the ones God is calling to wear the Elijah mantles.
