Listen and Obey
“If you will only listen and obey the commandments of The LORD your God that I am giving you today, he will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall always have the upper hand.” Deuteronomy 28:13 TLB.
Dear Ones: Listen and Obey!
These are the prerequisites required by God so He can make you the head and not the tail.
Moses was instructing Israel how to live and enjoy the blessings of God’s promises. Since God does not change His ways, then these words are relevant to us today.
We have the written Word, the Bible, to instruct us about His will and His ways. But the “listen” part means that He wants to talk to us, too.
John 16:13 confirms this:
“When The Holy Spirit, who is Truth, comes, He shall guide you into all truth, for He will not be presenting His own ideas, but will be passing on to you what He has heard. H e will tell you about the future.” John 16:13 TLB.
Truly the Master words reinforce Moses’ instructions: Listen and obey and you will have the upper hand.
The hard part about listening is the constant clutter of our thoughts.
The enemy sends thought bombs to jam the frequency of The Spirit’s communication with us.
But we can exercise our freewill to clear out the enemy’s static and noise so we can hear what the Spirit is saying to us every day.
Is this simple? No, but it is truly worth the effort to listen and obey so we can be the head and not the tail.
Declare:
I choose to listen and obey the voice of the Spirit.
He is guiding me in all truth so that I can have the upper hand in all my circumstances.
I am the head and not the tail; I shall prevail when challenges come my way.
The Spirit is leading me on the path of righteous living so I can enjoy the blessings of being a child of God.
Praise The LORD!
Have an overcoming day in Jesus’ name.
