Mobilized for War
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him,” 2 Chronicles 16:9.
“Fight the good fight of faith,” 1 Timothy 6:12.
“We were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears,” 2 Corinthians 7:5.
“Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them,” 2 Kings 6:16.
“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might,” Ephesians 6:10.
“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied,” 1 Samuel 17:45.
“God is my strength and power… He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze,” 2 Samuel 22:33,35.
“Our sufficiency is from God,” 2 Corinthians 3:5.
“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them,” Psalm 34:7.
“Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha,” 2 Kings 6:17.
“Time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens,” Hebrews 11:32-34.
If there was ever a time that we needed not just to escape in prayer and do little or nothing about the matters we so urgently pray for, it is now! Yes, pray fervently, but not as the only thing we do but rather to find out in prayer – and cleansing ourselves from any sin or bondage to hear from our Lord who is our life and our instructor – what we should do about the matters we pray for.
May the Lord therefore help each one of us as we enter this battle zone to hear from Him who will train our hands to war as the beautiful verses quoted above from Daily light (March 5) so wonderfully express.
