“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all,”   Ephesians 4:3-5.

We seem to be living in a day and age when many of us have not learned the simple lesson of agreeing to disagree.

Many are so caught-up in their own opinions, that they can’t begin to hear a different point of view.

Unfortunately, I am finding this to be true especially in Christian circles, for most of the issues that surround us have become such a hot button topic that some cannot see past their little box of ideas, opinions, and structures.

This type of mindset has become so ingrained, especially in the political arena where tempers flare, emotions run rampant, and fists are drawn at the first inkling of any thought that betrays their own.

Most of this type of thing seems to happen especially on social media, but this has become such a pervasive thing that it has even divided families, Churches, and the closest of friends.

I’m not saying that we should be so open-minded that we swallow everything that we hear around us, but I am saying that the petty arguments have now turned into mountains.

What was once a mound hill has now risen to the heights of Mount Everest.  Where are those who are mature in the faith?

The crowd mentality of folly and divisiveness has taken over.  Gone is even the simple practical wisdom that should be seen among us.

Your sleeves are wrapped up in your defensive sensitivities; and those things that should be more dear have now drifted into the atmosphere.

Even many of the prayers that some hold so dear are wrapped-up in platitudes of verses rather than exhibiting compassion and mercy to those who are in need.

Certainly we have a right to our own opinions with those things that we hold so dear, especially when this has to do with our faith and those doctrines which are paramount to us.  But now instead of seeing the forest for what it is, some are lost in the trees and the brambles.

It’s high time to get out of the thickets and come back to the main road.  If you would look out into the distance you can still see where you’ve strayed from.

But keep the goal in mind and don’t continue to get distracted from the course that God has set before you.
