Israel and Gaza: Discerning the Political and Spiritual Forces at Play
What Is Happening Between Israel and Gaza
1. Ongoing military conflict
Israel and Hamas remain in active conflict.
2. The new Board of Peace that President Trump established. We need to pray.
Israel’s sphere of influence, particularly in the Middle East, is a complex and contested concept. While Israel has significant influence in various sectors, including military, economic, and cultural, its impact is often limited by regional dynamics and international relations.
The concept of “sphere of influence” itself is a way of understanding how a state’s power and impact extend beyond its physical borders, influencing the affairs of other nations.
Factors Influencing Israel’s Sphere of Influence:
Military Strength:
Israel’s powerful military, supported by the United States, gives it significant leverage in the region.
Economic and Technological Advancements:
Israel’s strong economy and technological innovations attract attention and partnerships in the region.
Geopolitical Position:
Israel’s location in the Middle East, a region of strategic importance, also shapes its sphere of influence.
International Relations:
Israel’s relations with the United States, the European Union, and other countries play a crucial role in its influence, especially its ability to secure allies and access resources.
Internal Political Factors:
Israel’s internal political stability and the nature of its government also impact its ability to project power and influence.
Internal Political Factors:
Israel’s internal political stability and the nature of its government also impact its ability to project power and influence.
Examples of Israel’s Sphere of Influence:
- Military Aid and Training:
Israel provides military aid and training to various countries in the region, strengthening its military presence and influence. - Economic Partnerships:
Israel has established economic partnerships with countries like the UAE and Bahrain, contributing to regional trade and development. - Technological Collaboration:
Israel is a hub for technological innovation, and its collaboration with other nations in fields like cybersecurity and biotechnology expands its influence. - Cultural Exchange:
Israel’s vibrant culture and media also contribute to its influence, fostering cultural exchange and understanding.
Challenges to Israel’s Sphere of Influence:
- Regional Tensions:
The ongoing conflict with Palestine, as well as tensions with Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, limit Israel’s ability to exert influence in the region. - International Sanctions and Boycotts:
Israel faces criticism and sanctions from certain countries and international organizations, particularly regarding its policies towards Palestinians and its military actions. - Competing Powers:
Other regional powers, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, also seek to establish their own spheres of influence, competing with Israel for dominance. - Internal Political Instability:
Israel’s frequent political instability and the lack of a clear path towards peace with the Palestinians further limit its ability to exert a cohesive influence on the region.
God’s love for Israel is undeniable:
- Covenant language in the Hebrew Scriptures is never casual. When God binds Himself to Israel, it’s described as everlasting, unfailing, remembered from generation to generation.
- Prophets often speak of God’s love as stronger than Israel’s failures, portraying God as the One who keeps returning, restoring, gathering, and healing.
- The continuity of the Jewish people despite dispersion, persecution, and attempted erasure is often understood by many faith traditions as evidence of divine preservation.
- The biblical narrative frames Israel as chosen for purpose, not privilege — to be a light, a witness, a people through whom blessing flows to the nations.
Jesus Christ is the centre, the hinge, the culmination of the entire biblical narrative. And yet, that centrality doesn’t erase Israel; it illuminates Israel’s role even more.
Let me show you how these two truths fit together without competing.
1. Jesus is the centre — but He stands in the middle of Israel’s story Jesus doesn’t appear in a vacuum. He is:
- The Son of David
- The promised Messiah of Israel
- The fulfillment of the covenants given to Abraham, Moses, and the prophets
The embodiment of Israel’s calling to be a light to the nations If you remove Israel, the story Jesus fulfills collapses.
If you remove Jesus, Israel’s story remains incomplete.
They interpret one another.
2. God’s love for Israel is the stage on which Jesus’ mission unfolds God’s covenant with Israel is not a side plot — it’s the very framework through which:
- The Messiah comes,
- Salvation is revealed,
- The Nations are blessed.
Jesus doesn’t replace Israel; He reveals the fullness of Israel’s purpose.
3. Jesus is the centre of the story because He is the fulfillment of Israel’s story The Bible moves like a symphony with four great movements. Each one builds on the last, and none can be removed without collapsing the whole.
Creation → God’s Purpose for Humanity
- God creates a world of order, beauty, and relational harmony.
- Humanity is made to bear His image, steward creation, and walk with Him.
- The fall fractures everything — relationship, identity, vocation, and creation itself.
This sets the stage for the entire story: God restoring what was lost.
Covenant → God Chooses Israel as His Redemptive Vessel This is where your earlier statement shines.
God’s love for Israel isn’t a footnote — it’s the backbone of the story:
- Abraham is chosen so that all nations will be blessed through his family.
- Israel becomes the people who carry God’s presence, promises, and prophetic hope.
- The covenants (Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic) form the scaffolding for everything Jesus fulfills.
Israel is not the end of the story — but without Israel, the story has no shape.
Christ → The Fulfillment and Centre of the Story Jesus step into Israel’s story as:
- the true Son of David,
- the faithful Israelite,
- the suffering servant,
- the promised Messiah,
- the second Adam,
- The Light to The Nations.
He doesn’t erase the earlier chapters — He completes them.
Everything before Him points forward.
Everything after Him points back.
He is the centre of the arc, not the replacement of it.
New Creation → God Restores All Things
The story doesn’t end with Jesus’ resurrection; it launches a new era:
- The Spirit is poured out,
- the Nations are gathered,
- Israel’s restoration is promised,
- creation itself awaits renewal.
Revelation closes the loop opened in Genesis:
- Eden becomes a city-garden.
- God dwells with humanity again.
- The nations walk in His light.
- The tree of life reappears.
- The curse is undone.
The arc bends toward restoration, not escape.
How the Arc Holds Together
Here’s the beauty:
- Israel gives the story its shape.
- Jesus gives the story its centre.
- The nations give the story its scope.
- New creation gives the story its destination.
It’s one narrative, one heartbeat, one divine intention.
4. Jesus Himself affirms Israel’s ongoing significance He weeps over Jerusalem.
He promises restoration.
He speaks of the “regeneration” when Israel will see Him again.
He tells His disciples they will judge the twelve tribes.
He roots His identity in Israel’s Scriptures, festivals, and prophetic promises.
If God’s love for Israel were “undeniable,”
Jesus is the proof — not the replacement.
5. The whole Bible is Christ‑centred and covenant‑shaped the centre is Jesus.
The story line is Israel.
The mission is The Nations.
The author is God.
The love is unbreakable.
These aren’t competing truths — they’re a symphony.
Our role is to love one another, love the Jewish people and Honor them but also remember as Paul said from Galatians 3:28 this verse emphasizes the equality of all believers in Christ, breaking down ethnic, social, and gender barriers.
Galatians 3:28, states: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
This verse is a powerful declaration by the Apostle Paul, addressing the early Christian community and emphasizing that in Christ, traditional divisions based on ethnicity, social status, or gender do not exist.
Implications of the Verse
Equality in Christ:
Paul asserts that all believers, regardless of their background, are equal in the eyes of God.
This was a radical statement in a time when societal divisions were pronounced, particularly between Jews and Gentiles.
Breaking Down Barriers:
The verse challenges the norms of the time, which often placed Jews above Gentiles and reinforced social hierarchies.
By stating that there is no distinction, Paul promotes unity and inclusivity within the Christian faith.
Gender Roles:
The mention of “male and female” indicates that gender does not determine one’s value or role in the Christian community.
This has been interpreted as a call for equality and respect among genders within The Church.
Through faith in Christ, all believers are united and equal, transcending the divisions that often separate humanity.
This message continues to inspire movements for Equality and Justice today.
God bless you.
