Part 1 of 2
The LORD says,
“I have much to say to you, My Children.
Read and hear My Word.
I want you to know Me better.
I AM your Rock and your Refuge. My Word is life for you.
My Logos Word is the proper framework for receiving and applying My Rhema Word.
My Word is nutrition, provision, health, protection and guidance.
Brew it well, steep it long. Drink it deeply.
Draw deeply from My wells of strength and power.
Greater revelation is coming.
Know My heart and mind and receive them. Know My promises and stand by them.
I AM yours and you are Mine.”
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105.
Brewing, is one of those words we take for granted. In English the verb ‘to brew‘ means to prepare a liquid by steeping and boiling or fermenting ingredients in water.
Beer is brewed but since later times we also speak of brewing tea and coffee. In fact, in parts of the UK, “a brew” is still a colloquial way of talking about a cup of tea or coffee.
When making tea, you have to get the timing right. Whether it’s tea made from Camellia sinensis or another plant like camomile or lemon balm, the leaves, roots or flowers must be steeped in hot water for just the right amount of time.
Too little time and you make hot water with a mildly pleasant smell but little flavour. Left for too long and the tea stews. It ‘cooks’ and tastes downright unpleasant.
Well-made tea must be properly brewed but not stewed.
The Word of The LORD is different.
Many of us understand that Scripture came to us through frail and imperfect human vessels.
It was kept alive by the elders of ancient Israel. The oral tradition was later written down. For generations the word was handed down as a ‘memorial’ from The LORD, the spoken and written equivalent of the stones from the Jordan laid down in Joshua 4. The New Testament came later still.
What we know now as The Bible only came through the passage of time and after much careful prayer by gatherings of early Christians.
They didn’t always agree, as humans often do not. That is why different denominations can have different selections of books in their Bibles and prefer different translations from different ancient manuscripts.
Yet we also believe Scripture is directly inspired by the Holy Spirit. We know Jesus is the Logos, the Word of God.
We are told the Word of The LORD is alive. How could it be anything less than alive and active than our risen Lord Jesus Christ?!
The Word has inherent power. This is a fancy way of saying it holds power that is released when it is read or heard prayerfully.
So we need to read or hear the Word and we need revelation by the Holy Spirit to make it come alive to us.
While many of us can and should have direct encounters with the manifest presence of The LORD, His primary method of communication with us is through His Word, whether we read it ourselves or hear it spoken.
The Word is how He has chosen to reveal Himself to us.
So reading, studying and meditating on the Word is not only useful but a vitally important part of the daily walk and work of any Christian.
Large amounts of the Word are wonderful, especially if you’re trying to improve your biblical literacy.
But a smaller amount, if properly received in your heart, is still powerful. Some Christians are snobbish about daily verse emails or daily devotionals.
If that’s all you can manage, just ask The LORD to really make it count. He multiplied loaves and fishes to feed thousands so He can certainly make a little Scripture go a long way for you.
After you finish, don’t just go about the rest of your day and forget what you read. Ask Holy Spirit to bring to mind everything Jesus has told you.
Think about the verses. Roll them over and over in your mind as you go about your day.

Martin Luther
Remember, it took Martin Luther several years of struggle and meditation before he receive the revelation about Romans 1:17 that led to the Reformation and then the Counter-Reformation.
From this and what The LORD has previously said to me, I firmly believe that further significant revelation in the Word is forthcoming in this century.
Like tea, the Word of The LORD must be carefully prepared.
Prepare yourself and pray before reading or listening.
Come with the expectation of hearing from God and being humble and willing to receive what He says.
Unlike tea, the Word is best stewed. Think about it. Meditate on it. Study it. Speak it aloud. Sing it.
Daily ,you will be clothed with Jesus and spread the aroma of Christ. You, and others who see you, will taste and see The LORD is good.
