Rebuild the Breaches in Our Inner Man
Rebuild the Breaches in our Inner Man

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The Repairer of the breach, The Restorer of paths to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12 KJV
Recently I reflected on how Nehemiah was called ‘The Repairer of The Breach’.
He is the one who, in a very short time — 52 days — rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.
What bothered Israel’s enemies more than the rebuilding of the walls themselves was that the breaches were repaired and closed.
When we give the enemy access to our lives, we have created a breach, a place through which he has gained access to our lives and, consequently, our homes and families.
It is no coincidence that intercessors place themselves in the breach for those for whom they intercede.
We must understand that the enemy does not enter our lives boldly but subtly. He is the ancient serpent who crawls and inserts himself into our thoughts with the doubt and lusts of this life.
The devil knows us because he watches us carefully — I speak for the children of God — because the enemy’s intent is to destabilize us. Monitoring us by his fallen angels, he knows how to make inroads within us through doubts and the various pleasures of this earth.
He does not create, but we ourselves offer him the means to enter our lives: unbelief, gossip, slander, lack of forgiveness, pride, lies, lust, pornography, etc.
There is a verse in the Song of Solomon that is very illustrative of what I am talking about :
“We must catch the foxes, the little foxes that are harming the vines, for our vines are in bloom.” Song of Solomon 2:15.
Here we are invited to catch the little foxes, about which, a great Saint of God, *Giuseppe Petrelli once described as: “a murmur here, a murmur there, a slander, and behold, we have destroyed the sacredness of our spiritual life.”
Let us remember that God knows our fallibility, because He was a man, but at the same time He loves to see the effort and willingness we make to change, because that alone is enough. He will do the rest.
Sometimes we find ourselves facing a grave sin and we wonder how we got to this point… We opened a breach that then unchecked over time — became a chasm!
But let us always remember that God is always ready to forgive and welcome home the various prodigal sons, because His Mercy and Love cover multitudes of sins, except that which is against The Holy Spirit.
*Giuseppe Petrelli was an early Italian-American Pentecostal missionary, journalist, prolific writer, theologian, and itinerant Bible expositor who lived in America. Wiki
Prayer
LORD, close every breach through which the enemy has gained access to our hearts and our thoughts.
Purge us in the Fire of The Holy Spirit. For this purpose, send your Seraphim to complete this work of sanctification.
