So What Does Spiritual Awakening Look Like?
The UK’s two main Christian leaders have revealed why millions of young Britons seeking “something deeper” from the “noise” of modern life are filling our churches again. In 2016 headlines made grim reading with just 1.8 per cent of Britons attending CofE services and 80 year-olds eight times more likely to go than a 21 year-old – but since lockdown there’s been a major spiritual U-turn.
YouGov data and the Bible Society’s ‘Quiet Revival’ report reveal two million more attendees packed pews in 2024 than 2018 – with Gen Z’s aged 18-24 miraculously quadrupling from 4 to 16 per cent. Even Bible sales in the UK have almost doubled in five years with 2019 sales totalling £2.69 million – but rocketing to £5.02 million in 2024, according to Nielsen BookScan figures.
But the ‘Good News’ is no surprise to the UK’s Catholic leader Cardinal Vincent Nichols, 79, or Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell, 66 – leading the Church of England after Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby resigned in January.
Now both Christian figureheads have exclusively told the Sunday Express why Britain has a young ‘spiritual generation’ – as they also tell us about the Gaza and Ukraine crises, immigration, poverty and new assisted dying and abortion laws.” ©MSN
So what does spiritual awakening look like?
The LORD allows trials, tribulations and difficult circumstances.
Difficult circumstances can keep many awake, when the comfort zones of men are disrupted it keeps them awake, alert and ready to engage!
God will — bring Divine Disruptions to keep many awake and alert.
God will — allow famines, wars and great persecutions to wake us up from our deep sleep and slumbering.
God will — put a desperation in the hearts of men for supernatural Signs, Wonders and Miracles.
God will — put a divine dissatisfaction in the hearts of men:
- like Hannah — who cried night and day until her prayer was answered;
- like Esther — who cried, “If I perish, I perish!”;
- like Gideon — who lamented in the winepress for the deliverance of his people.
God will — put a ravenous hunger and a righteous anger into the hearts of men — in the midst of increasing darkness.
God will — inject into our lives a hunger and thirst for His Word and His Presence like never before!
- a hunger — that will cause us to run after and pursue His Presence;
- a hunger — that will drive us into His Presence in search for His Wisdom and Understanding;
- a hunger — that will draw us out of a corrupt world system;
- a hunger — that will make us passionately pursue God until we find Him!
God will — put a burden on our hearts to see The Will of The Father made manifest.
God will — make us so dissatisfied and desperate with the society we live in.
God will— give us a righteous anger and a holy dissatisfaction with the status quo!
We Pray — for a fresh infilling and an outpouring of His Spirit!
We Pray — for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done!!
We Decree — a great Spiritual Awakening is coming upon The Nations!!!
