The Potential of Choice
Some years ago, I had what I will call an open Vision, as there is no other way to describe it.
As I lay in bed with my eyes open, I saw above me the Heads of Jesus and The Father, and
They were talking to One Another, discussing me and my future in Them. They looked very serious! (Yikes!)
Holy Spirit was to my left praying (I think on His Knees, but not sure.) They neither looked at me, nor acknowledged me in any way, and I could not hear what They were saying, but I only saw Them and by revelation knew that that’s what They were discussing.
At the time, I thought to myself, “Oh, boy! I’m in trouble now!” And it was out of the ordinary enough for me that I didn’t record it, because I didn’t quite know how to put it to words in a way that made any sense.
This morning, July 15, 2025, that scene popped into my head, and with it the phrase, “They are talking potential.”
When our Kings look at our lives, They see us at our full potential, and They then proceed to watch opportunities presented for us to act on that can carry us to that potential.
They look at us through eyes of love and hope, and all the while Jesus intercedes on our behalf helping us along through Holy Spirit. Let me explain!
There are a lot of factors at play in a believer’s life. When our Kings are discussing strategy for our lives, they are talking potential, the potential of choice!
Our choice is never taken away, even if it means our own doom! This is a basic Kingdom principle, and our God follows His Own rules!
At the same time, He has given us all the tools in His Word, and in personal revelation that rests on His Word, that we can use in a way that brings to fruition our full potential! The question is, will we use these tools in the way they were intended, by God, to be used?
Our God’s Presence fills all time and space, so He knows our choices before we make them, and the outcomes as well.
However, in our journey through time, our choices remain, and in His Great Grace (unmerited favor), Jesus gives us many, many chances to choose that which bears good fruit in our our lives — and in His Love for us, He multiplies that fruit!
We have choices of how we do things, how we react to life’s sometimes heart-breaking circumstances, how we respond to blessing, how we treat others, if we’ve given darkness a seat at our table before The LORD!
If we approach this as a list of legalistic do’s and don’ts, it becomes overwhelming.
But it is actually quite simple, and boils down to a few key principles, and they are all a vital part of loving the Lord, because love is an action!
- Love the Lord God with all your heart by making Him First and Foremost at all times!
- Love others as yourself.
- Yield to the Lord in all things (obedience).
- Follow His ways as laid out in scripture; not in legalism, but as a basic blueprint for life, and when in doubt, ask Him.
Remember, Jesus rebuked the religious Pharisees when they condemned His disciples for picking and eating grain on the Sabbath, and responded,
“Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:6-8.
When God looks at us, He sees us as we are in Jesus! Thankfully, He doesn’t see us as we see ourselves, but as who He has created us to be, and then He gives us the Way to arrive at that place, and that Way is Jesus!
The choice to invite Him to be Lord and Savior of our lives is the most important choice of all!
To engage His ways of living is next in line, even if they don’t make sense by the world’s standards! By doing so, we will be greatly blessed in the coming days of Glory!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
“The way of life winds upward for the wise, That he may turn away from hell below.” Proverbs 15:24.
