The Thin Line of Gideon’s Modern Army
The LORD’s Remnant
I’ve been thinking and talking about little bit about Gideon’s Army.
I thought about the three hundred and I thought of referring to them as ‘the ten percent-ers’!
Then The LORD reminded me that Gideon started with 32,000 men who were reduced to 300!
It immediately struck me that my mathematics were awry — Gideon ended up with just ONE percent! 1%!
The LORD rejected 99% of the original army in order to show His Power through just one percent!
Then The LORD said simply, “So it is again today.
I AM about to show, to demonstrate, My Power using just one percent of those volunteers available to Me.
They shall be My Remnant — My ‘one percent-ers’!”
I was thrilled to hear this as I’d been talking to a prophet friend about the smallness of The Remnant we had both been seeing!
We had agreed that, just as Gideon had ended up with a fraction of that with which he started, so we were both seeing that today’s ’Remnant Army’ will be a fraction of what we’ve been expecting!
A thin line indeed — representing the entire worldwide Ekklesia that is The Church!
Postscript
An interesting postscript to this.
The LORD impressed upon me that certain people shone with God’s Presence –
- Stephen was shining even as the mob stoned him to death. (Acts 6:15)
- Exodus 34 recounts how Moses was shining after being in God’s Presence. (Exodus 34:29-35)
More recent examples are Jesse Duplantis who was shining after his heaven experience — and apparently I was shining after being baptised in The Holy Spirit!
I don’t mention my own experience as anything other than the fact that it has happened to me too!
The LORD brought all this to mind to illustrate that ‘shining’ will be an identifying effect of the one percenters mentioned above.
Not that they will shine all the time, but that, in times of ministry, The Presence of God will shine in their faces.
All this to prophesy that, not only will the so-called ‘Remnant’ of this time be much smaller than most of us think, but that this remnant will be known as the ‘shining ones’ among believers and non-believers alike!

Then Matthew came to me:
“The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few…pray the LORD for MORE…”
Interesting how the LORD works!
It mentions the first fruits in Revelation – the 144k. Then the next harvest which is the multitudes. (The wheat). The first fruits help in harvesting the wheat. The last is the grape harvest which is harvested during the wrath of God that is poured out.
For some reason I was getting in my spirit that it was a small percentage ‘for such a time as this’, but I don’t know why. Perhaps, in my own simple words, it could be because of such a sacrifice to being hidden and many may have given up along the way. Thank God in His Wisdom the Fire will ignite and spread. Not sure if I make sense here. Thank you Chris, blessings.

Many years ago Jill and I attended a Church Office meeting, and when we left she was literally swatting off ‘demonic flies’ that we buzzing around her head.
We went to a coffee place and I did a 10-second deliverance prayer, and as the flies left and as she raised her head from off the tabletop, her face was just glowing so brightly with The Spirit of The LORD.
I’d heard about such a thing, but had never seen or experienced it. Haven’t since then either! 🙂

I’ve only ever heard of it the once too and I’ve certainly never met anyone else who’s experienced it either. I wonder what, if any, the significance might be? Or is it simply a blessing?
I’d guess it could be related to Faith building in the beholder. But just a guess.
the whole topic is not something that’s ever come up in conversation, other than when giving our testimony the office visit.
Yes, and as one pastor from that office told us on heating what happened…. “Yes, we have many spirits in our office, and The Holy Spirit is just one of them…..”
