Vessels of Honor and Dishonor!
The judgement of God!
This morning I heard God say the words, “Vessels of honor and dishonor!”
God will be glorified whether you choose to live holy or not! Your failure is only a set up for God to demonstrate His glory, and His power in this hour!
I heard God saying this morning, “hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction” Romans 9:21-22.
One of the characters of God is that He is both patient and long-suffering with both you and me, and He will go to great lengths to try and get His people to turn from there wicked ways before bringing judgement upon us!
He loves us so that He will go to great lengths to get us to turn from sin in order that we might receive salvation; rather than destruction! Take Jeremiah for example, God told him arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear My words. Then he went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, God wrought a work on the wheels, and the vessel that God made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it (Jeremiah 18:1-5).
God is saying, o saints (world), cannot I do with you as this potter, saith The Lord? Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand! God can change you in just one instant if only you will allow him to do so, He will not force you! But He will send His prophets in this season to prompt and to encourage you to come out of bondage to keep you from being destroyed by His destroying angels for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe upon Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life!
It is not God’s will that any should perish! However; just as He sent Moses to Pharaoh to tell him to let God’s people go into the wilderness to serve Him, time after time, only to hear promise after promise from Pharaoh that he would, and then to change his mind!
I hear God saying when He looks in our hearts and see that you have no intention of changing from your evil ways, God will do us like he did Pharaoh and He will get the glory from and out of our lives, to demonstrate both His glory and His power! (see Exodus 10).
God is saying, “Shall I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; if that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them, but if it continue to do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them” (Jeremiah 18:7-10).
I hear God urging the nation; as well as His people to flee immorality (evil) so that we might be a “vessel unto honor.” It is God’s preference that we as a nation and the body of Christ engage in honorable conduct; rather than evil!
I hear God saying that in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor, and if a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. What is god saying? Well, we are sleeping, living in dangerous times, where man’s heart is continuing to fail him and many would rather live a life of pleasure enjoying sin for a season all to please the flesh!
I hear God saying that we are in perilous times; it is of the utmost importance that we resist the urge to use our human reasoning to compromise with God’s law. We are a nation that is built upon, “In God we trust!” We must be particularly careful in what we perceive as the “smaller areas” of God’s word. Why? Because, Satan often makes his greatest inroads by getting us to relax in little things and gradually convincing us to do the same in more vital matters, but if he can just get his foot in the door, he feels he has won a great victory and can make us slip away from God. Once we compromise, the process of sin has commenced, and godly character, which is so precious to God, begins to erode, opening the way for sin on a larger scale.
What does God mean by honor; well, the word “honor” means what is of “value” or “worth.” Something that is precious, was considered “honorable,” whether it was a gold vessel or a life of righteousness. God compares His people, His nation, as gold or silver vessels that are viewed with “honor!”
I hear god saying that some of you are like Pharaoh, who is compared to the wooden and earthen vessels that are described by the word “dishonor.” These “vessels of dishonor,” the term “dishonor” here suggests that such disciples (people) are of no value in the kingdom. They are not suitable and prepared to be involved in the kingdom business of life in Christ, so whether you decided to honor God by living a righteous and holy life is up to you know this though; just as God got honor, and glory on Pharaoh and his army so will He get honor and glory from your life as well!
When men in Christ forsake sin, they live honorable lives and as vessels of honor God can use them in the good work for both His kingdom and this nation. The word “sanctified,” as the word “holy,” is meant to withdraw from or set oneself apart from sin. And it included the dedication of oneself to purity and righteousness.
Purity and righteousness are meant for a man to “possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7). The honorable life is meant to put away moral uncleanness (evil) so that they were not seen by God in judgment as a vessel unto dishonor (2 Timothy 2:20, 21).
As a nation and a people, isn’t it high time that we choose to serve God? He is giving us a chance to make him our choice, because, he does not need us, and just as he got the honor upon Pharaoh and his army he will get the honor and glory out of our lives; as well! What do you have to loose?
