We Want Revival?
An analysis and a way forward for us today.
Researching for my recent podcast, I found some interesting statistics.
I posted some about this, but The LORD has brought me back just to analyse these statistics:
- John Wesley in 1780 preached to 10,000 in a field!
That’s the equivalent of 73,000 today!
- Cane Ridge in 1801 had 20,000 at a meeting.
That’s the equivalent of 150,000 today!
- Cambuslang (Glasgow, Scotland) in 1742 had 30,000 attend a meeting to hear George Whitfield preach.
That’s the equivalent of 240,000 today!
These are astonishing figures by today’s standards — even more so over 200 years ago!
No microphones and loudspeakers, no transport other than horses, no security, no local accommodation for such crowds, not even a local cafe for food.
Few, if any, decent roads, yet people traveled for miles, for days, just to hear the gospel message preached.
So — What are WE missing?
Imagine that crowd of 30,000 just outside Glasgow.
NB — They would have needed a translator as most of the meetings were conducted in Gaelic — which I doubt Whitfield spoke at all, let alone fluently enough to preach the Gospel!
The whole of Glasgow held a population of just about 20,000 in 1740!
With today’s Glasgow, that represents, realistically, about a million people gathering to hear the Gospel.
Where did they all come from, and how did they get there?
How were they fed?
Allowing for travel, it must have been a multi day event.
Cambuslang Revival lasted months yet it is recorded that 30,000 came to hear Whitfield!
On just one day? I doubt it.
Probably over a week, maybe more.
Nevertheless a huge crowd for that time.
Logistically a nightmare!
Cane Ridge was possibly even greater by logistics.
Population of Bourbon County, where the city was located, just 12,000 people — in the whole county!
No roads there at that time.
Just a covered wagon pulled by two or four horses.
Hostile territory — food had to be hunted — no washing facilities until you came to a river.
Countless problems and obstacles. Yet they came in their thousands!
Astonishing!
So what are we missing today?
A lack of repentance? Poor prayer life? Political unrest? Zeal? What is it?
What’s our excuse?
We have none really. Loss of zeal, distracted or diverted. Apathy, unbelief, doubt — all rampant today!
How determined are we to get to our meetings?
That’s between us as individuals and God!
We’re generally not though — are we?
Laziness, lack of inspiration, disbelief all contribute. The great falling away has started!
Will we travel for days to get there, not even knowing if we’ll get in?.
Not a chance for most of us!
What’s to do?
We need to REPENT, as in 2 Chronicles 7.
Really, truly, sorrowfully repent
“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. ” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14.
Why?
Because The Holy Spirit is about to flood our lands with Revival, but without Repentance, He can do little!
When The Holy Spirit calls you, how will you respond?
Simply say, “Yes Lord!”, and do what He asks of you.
He will move first on individuals — those who Travail and Repent for Revival, then He will move on Churches, then on towns, and so on!
The longing for The Presence of God will fill thousands, even millions, as He moves through an area.
THEN people will queue for hours to get into an event — that’s been happening again quietly for a while now — and many will be affected as has happened before. This, in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, even England!
We shall see Revival as never before in The United Kingdom!
We may not see the chaos of those meetings centuries ago, although Revival is messy, but we will see Signs, Wonders, and Miracles like we’ve not seen before!
The Presence of God will fill houses, Churches, big halls, and arenas as never before.
It won’t just be the British Isles — it will be Europe and worldwide!
The Americas — North and South, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia — every corner, every continent of the world!
Revival is breaking out — even now as you read this — Revival is breaking out!
The Spirit of god is falling on us now!
Feel it!
Respond to The Holy Spirit’s Call!
Let Him fill you, mould you, bend you!
Soak, share, and do whatever The LORD tells you to do!

I am from South Africa and thus has been my prayer for the last couple of months now. I’ve been asking for a personal revival that will spread to everyone in the house and spread like wild fire to the churches, communities and throughout our nation. We here in SA need a revival to break out urgently. Do hearing this prophecy gives me hope that God will do it for us
