Wisdom in a Woman
“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” Proverbs 14:1.
In some societies, it is the women that LITERALLY build the house!
I remember while visited the Masai Tribe, Kenya, I was shocked to find out, unlike many societies where house construction is typically done by men, Maasai women are the primary builders of the Manyattas.
I tried to ask what men did, but couldn’t get a satisfying answer!
Men were herding cattle, and could be fighting out there and such things as the Maasai have strong identity in cattle. That is what men love and mostly for status and wealth.
I was thinking a man to build a house is just as important, which apparently they left women to do proper home.
Sometimes us men, we do value the outside identity, the image, at the expense of beautifying the home and making it habitable.
This verse from Proverbs 14:1 has just nailed it clearly that there is Wisdom in every woman who builds a house!
We can apply it in metaphorical sense, and if the woman is really wise, she would build that home, she would make it habitable.
When a woman decides to build her home, she purposely builds it. Women were created to receive and nurture and the instinctual wisdom to nurture is a blessing God gave every woman.
When men commit to hard fighting in the fields, wise women will create a home for refuge.
A man is build by the wisdom of a woman and he is part of the home that is built by the woman.
We see wise women in The Bible making tough decisions to make the home protected and prosperous.
With her wisdom, Sarah advised Abraham “let the bond woman and her son go” (Genesis 21:9-16).
This wisdom protected the promise that blessings of the Gentiles given to Abraham would only come through Isaac.
Today we are NOT displaced from The Covenant, because The Promise was preserved, courtesy of a woman who was wise enough to protect her home with the future in her mind.
It is sad when I see women easily walk out, without thinking of the wisdom to protect the promise.
A wise woman builds her house. But the foolish one plucketh it down by her hands.
A man should be a contributor to this wisdom, and men as Priests should bless the women to function in this Wisdom.
Shalom,
